Reflections for Patrolman John T. Plunkett

Patrolman Plunkett,
On today, the 100th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just for your Community but for our Country as well when you served during World War I. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

In doing some family research, John Plunkett was possibly engaged to my grandmother's sister, Nellie O' Reilly upon his death. Almost 100 years later, thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Uncle John changed the lives of our entire family. He joined the force after surviving WWI (wounded, missing in action, amnesia). He told my grandmother that he would pay the monthly stipend due the family so my mother and Uncle Joe could return to high school. They went on to become a teacher and an engineer. We can't describe our admiration for John Plunkett's life of sacrifice and kindness.

To the family and friends of this brave officer. I have just completed the new web site for the Fraternal Order of Police Newark Lodge#12 and would like to take a moment to thank all of these men for giving me one of the most spiritual experiences in my life. I felt that each and every one of these officers were at my side guiding me to the completion of the sites "In Memory Of..." page. God Bless and Thank You!
