Reflections for Lieutenant Jeffery Lee Springer
Rest in peace Lt. Springer.
Rabbi Lewis S. Davis

Jeff, was my partner in 1979 at the Red Oak Texas Police Department. He was a great person and we had a good time working together. Red Oak was a three man department at the time and we would either come in a couple of hours early or stay late to make the shift seem as long. I live in his grandmother's house and think of him frequently. Rest in peace partner...

Jeff,
I love you so much and will until the day God calls me home. I know you will be waiting it's be 19 yrs. now. I'm so glad I was able to tell you that I loved you and kissed you goodbye. That was something we always said we would do just incase. Well our awful day came and you have missed out on so much. Our beautiful grandchildren for one. You would have spoiled them rotten. We would have been married 20 yrs. on that beautiful day in Sept. but. none of this happened for us. I thank God for our 11 months as husband and wife. We almost made our first anniversary until someone took that away from us. I hope you knew that you were my HERO. You are loved and you will never be forgotten. Your always in my heart so RIP Lt. Jeffery Lee Springer

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 14th anniversary year of your death. I am priviliged to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.
I pray for solace for all those that love and miss you for I know that both the pain and pride are forever. I thank your friends for sharing their devotion to you through their reflections.

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

08 years have come and gone since your tragic and untimely death. I know the pain is still fresh in the hears of your friends and loved ones. May everyone take comfort in the fact that you will NEVER be forgotten and will FOREVER be a hero!

Lt. Springer was my Lt. and was one of my instructors while I was in the academy. Jeff was a top notch Lt. He was a great man, he cared about all of his guys, I was lucky to work under him and Sgt. J. Knapp, Officer B.Owens Officer J.Pillow, Officer W. Martin, Officer R. Dainels. I can look back on these times and it seems like they were just yesterday. Jeff it has taken me along time to say these things, but I glad that I had the chance to live them. Thanks for always being there looking over all of us.

LT. Springer was a very good officer and mentor to me. I was a Police Exlplorer with WPD from 1996-1999 and was very glad to have worked with LT. Springer when I could. I know that he is somewhere in Heaven keeping everyone within the letter and spirit of the law.

I knew Jeff Springer for several years. I recall when he was a motor jockey for Waxahachie PD and he would come to Irving to compete in the Texas Police Motorcycle Rodeo that I coordinated. He was a nice guy and always good for a laugh or two.
He is not forgotten. May God's blessings be poured out on his family.
