This morning I just happen to see your profile at ODMP. I still remember the morning I heard of your accident. You were a big man with a gentle, respectful heart. Yet a cowardly woman who took you out for no reason with her car. A friend of mind who was a state trooper, investigated that case. He said that was the only case he lost in court. He said it was the most disturbing case in his time as a lawman. She didn't get a day of time in the state pen at Tutwiler. Her act was intentional to kill you which was first degree murder - a capital offense. She and her lawyer came up with the most bogus defense to justify your death. But justice will come for you one day on this earth. Only one can question Yah about what the jury was thinking when they gave a not guilty verdict. Corporal Lee the family and alumni of Alabama State commend you for the service you gave. I ask that all ASU alums to reflect on your life at this site.

I remember the day that you were killed like yesterday. I saw the news reel and was so shocked and saddened by what had happened. A friend who had investigated your incident told me the real details of how the suspect had intentionally killed you. How he testified in court on your case, yet, the suspect beat the case. You were on the way to work from Union Springs to offer your service to the ASU family but your life was senselessly taken from the ASU family. ASU and all the staff and students you served appreciate your service that you gave. I commend you on a job well done. I give my condolences to your family.
Shalom
May Yahweh, the Creator, reward you in the next life.

My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
I pray for the solace of those who love and miss you. Both the pain and pride are forever.

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

My thoughts are with your loved ones today, continue to keep watch over them and protect them. I know it has not been an easy journey for them these past 6 years. Also, watch over those still on patrol watching over the Thin Blue Line. You will not be forgotten and are a true hero.

It scares me to read this and know that simply being a police officer can be considered the wrong place, wrong time, wrong attire, wrong car... It's so senseless... a life wasted... children losing a father... a woman losing her love... I'm so sorry. May God bless and keep your family. Your sacrifice will not be forgotten

Cpl. Lee, AFTER the fact that you've been taken from us and your immediate family, the saddest thing is WHY you were taken. Because you were a cop. That's it. You weren't breaking up a huge fight, you weren't intervening in a crime in progress, you weren't even on patrol, you were just there, and a cop. Completely senseless and infuriating.
Your life was taken. The Alabama State University Police, ALL College/University Police, All law enforcement and the public should take heed, it doesn't matter where you do it, it's that you do it at all that puts you in danger. We all feel the pain, but your immediately family feels it far worse, even after almost 5 years.
God bless you Cpl. Lee and yours. Your body has been taken, but you spirit lives on in us all.

In Memory---
~~~~~The Broken Chain~~~~~
We little knew that morning that God was going to call your name.~~In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same.~~It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone; for part of us went with you, the day God called you home.~~You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide; and though we cannot see you, you are always at our side.~~Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same; but as God calls us one by one, the Chain will link again.
I remember the days I saw you on the campus as a figure that was humongous and imposed justice. I also knew that your job was to keep us straight as students when we got rowdy. I commend you for a job well done. I thank God for poeple like you who were the ministers of justice who kept the peace for ASU. I send my condolences to your family. You did the ASU family and the state of Alabama a great service and it never be forgotten by me or any of the ASU family.
