Well my darling you have been gone 10 years this year ...I was reading the news tonight where LaPlace lost two officers this week...As I sit here crying for their family I am grateful to know that you are there to welcome them home with your open arms...I can remember the young officers knocking on our door at night to ask if Skipper was there they needed some help...You always worried about the young officers so much...You would get out of bed and try to help them any way you could....I remember always making them welcome no matter what time of night and insisting that I would get you up for them...Wrap your arms around these two young officers that was taken home this past Thursday...They are noble men that gave their lives protecting others, the greatest gifts our officers give....

A decade has passed since you were called away. I know that those that love your dearly think of you every day. The first thought they have when they wake each morning is of you and the last thought they have before they drift off to sleep at night is of you. Visit them in their dreams, touch them, let them know you are still watching over them. You will never be forgotten.

"Those who we love and lose are no longer where they were before. They are now wherever we are."

Dear Daddy,
Fathers Day is Sunday and I have been thinking about you a lot lately. So much has happened since you have been gone. Robin went to Washington D.C. this week. She is 13 now. I have a handsome little godson named Tristan, who is Jenny & Gareths Baby Boy, and his sister Aubrey is 3. I have become quite attached to them. If you were here, you would be spoiling them rotten too. I miss you daddy. I try to tell our story to people so they will know how short life is. I love you - Gel

Hi Daddy,
It's hard to believe that you have been gone for 7 years. When i woke up this morning, i wondered what life would be like today if you were here and could see the positive changes in my life. I often wonder what you would think about " this or that" and how much fun we could have swimming in the pool in my backyard. You know how you and I both love the water, while mom and sue couldnt swim, you and I were like fish ! I miss you Daddy, Love, Gel

Your heroism and service is honored today, the seventh anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.

I have been thinking about you a lot lately Daddy. Times are tough for me right now, and i know that if you were still here, you would be right by my side letting me know to " hang in there" and that things are going to get better. I wonder if you can see whats going on with me ? Sometimes, i can sense your presence in my house, and i think you might be still watching over me. I miss you Daddy. Love, Angelle

"The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

It is 7:33 in the morning my love. I remember this time on July 9th, 2002. As we sit on the porch and drinked our coffee we laughed about the night before. I never thought it would be my last laugh with you. It has been almost five years now and I still miss you so much. Having you in my life for the four years we were together, made me a stronger person. I still miss you as much as I did five years ago. I know you watch over me each and every day. I love you baby and I always will...Your wife Sybil
