"This is my shield.
I bear it before me into battle,
but it is not mine alone.
It protects my brother on my left.
It protects my city.
I will never let my brother
out of its shadow
nor my city out of its shelter.
I will die with my shield before me
facing the enemy."

John 15:13 "Greater Love has no man than this: That he give his life for his friends."

May God be with your famil.

Your watch here is over

There are but two persons who protect the sinful human race from destroying itself. One is God's Holy Spirit. The other is the Peace Officer. Without them, we would all perish at each other's hands.
According to Romans 13.1-5...
God ordains the Peace Officer’s profession.
The Peace Officer is sent by God.
The Peace Officer is vested with God's authority to enforce the law.
A Peace Officer's badge is to be honored by us, because it is honored by God.

To the family of Officer Glen Gaspar and the Honolulu Police Dept., your extended family of Law Enforcement Officers grieve with you during this time. Though our badges are different, our mission is the same. Rest in peace with the other fallen Heros, my brother. We will continue the fight in your honor.

I didn't know you personally but I am certain that I walked passed you once or twice. I am grateful to you for paying the ultimate price for freedom in this country. You were obviously a courageous person for dealing with societies worst. I pray for the two children you left behind and for your fellow officers in Honolulu that I am sure are deeply saddened. Rest in peace my Brother!!!

THE POLICEMAN'S LAST ROLL CALL ...

THE POLICEMAN STOOD AND FACED HIS GOD,
WHICH MUST ALWAYS COME TO PASS.
HE HOPED HIS SHOES WERE SHINING,
JUST AS BRIGHTLY AS HIS BRASS.
"STEP FORWARD NOW, POLICEMAN.
HOW SHALL I DEAL WITH YOU?
HAVE YOU ALWAYS TURNED THE OTHER CHEEK?
TO MY CHURCH HAVE YOU BEEN TRUE?"

THE POLICEMAN SQUARED HIS SHOULDERS AND SAID,
“NO LORD, I GUESS I AIN’T.
BECAUSE THOSE OF US WHO CARRY BADGES
CAN’T ALWAYS BE A SAINT.
I’VE HAD TO WORK MOST SUNDAYS,
AND AT TIMES MY TALK WAS TOUGH,
AND SOMETIMES I’VE BEEN VIOLENT
BECAUSE THE STREETS ARE AWFULLY TOUGH.
BUT I NEVER TOOK A PENNY
THAT WASN’T MINE TO KEEP,
THOUGH I WORKED A LOT OF OVERTIME
WHEN THE BILLS JUST GOT TO STEEP.
AND I NEVER PASSED A CRY FOR HELP,
THOUGH TIMES I SHOOK WITH FEAR.
AND SOMETIMES, GOD FORGIVE ME,
I’VE WEPT MANY UNMANLY TEARS.
I KNOW I DON’T DESERVE A PLACE
AMONG THE PEOPLE HERE,
THEY NEVER WANTED ME AROUND
EXCEPT TO CALM THEIR FEAR.
IF YOU’VE A PLACE FOR ME LORD,
IT NEEDN’T BE SO GRAND,
I NEVER EXPECTED OR HAD TOO MUCH,
BUT IF YOU DON’T I’LL UNDERSTAND.”

THERE WAS SILENCE ALL AROUND THE THRONE
WHERE THE SAINTS HAD OFTEN TROD.
AS THE POLICEMAN WAITED QUIETLY,
FOR THE JUDGEMENT OF HIS GOD.
“STEP FORWARD NOW, POLICEMAN,
YOU’VE BORNE YOUR BURDENS WELL.
COME WALK A BEAT ON HEAVENS STREETS,
YOU’VE DONE YOUR TIME IN HELL”"

Godspeed my brother. Please stand tall as you watch over those of us from above. May God comfort your friends and family.

THE POLICEMAN'S LAST ROLL CALL ...

THE POLICEMAN STOOD AND FACED HIS GOD, WHICH MUST ALWAYS COME TO PASS. HE
HOPED HIS SHOES WERE SHINING, JUST AS BRIGHTLY AS HIS BRASS. "STEP FORWARD
NOW, POLICEMAN. HOW SHALL I DEAL WITH YOU? HAVE YOU ALWAYS TURNED THE OTHER
CHEEK? TO MY CHURCH HAVE YOU BEEN TRUE?"

THE POLICEMAN SQUARED his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a Saint. I've had to
work most Sundays, and at times my talk was rough, and sometimes I've been
violent because the streets are awfully tough. But I never took a penny that
wasn't mine to keep, though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills just
got to steep. And I never passed a cry for help, though times I shook with
fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept many unmanly tears. I know I
don't deserve a place among the people here, they never wanted me around
except to calm their fear. If you've a place for me Lord, it needn't be so
grand. I never expected or had too much, but if you don't, I'll understand."

There was silence all around the throne where the Saints had often trod. As
the policeman waited quietly, for the judgement of his God. "Step forward
now, policeman, you've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on Heaven's
streets, you've done your time in hell."

REST IN PEACE OFFICER, WE NOW HAVE THE WATCH

I had occasion to come to Honolulu for a law enforcement conference last November. The hospitality and brotherhood displayed by the members of HPD was phenomenal. It was obvious that they were a tight-knit team of men & women. It's a shame that they had to lose a member of their agency in such a senseless act. Our condolences to the HPD and the family of Off. Glaspar.
Godspeed, my brother. Rest in peace.

Officer Gaspar,

As I sit at my terminal reading the news of your death, I cannot begin to express the tremendous sorrow and shock that I feel as I find out that you lost your life today protecting the citizens of Hawai'i. My heart literally sank when I read that a brother of the ohana had been shot and killed. I read more about your passing on various news websites, and each story I read seemed to make the news more and more unbelievable.

Although I never had the fortune of meeting you, I want to tell you thank you for your 12 years of service to the citizens of Hawai'i and for giving the ultimate sacrifice while wearing the badge of HPD. Although I'm in Washington, I speak for my family, friends, and co-workers that have roots back home when I say we will miss you dearly. To the family of Officer Gaspar, I say this: Words will never be able to express how much I feel for you right now during this time, but I will continue to pray for strength and healing for each of you. To the other family of Officer Gaspar - the ohana in blue - I say this: Remember our brother with the highest honor; remember our brother with the kindest of words; and never let him fade from the memories each of you have of him.

God bless and rest in peace . . .
