This is a very hard path to walk, but there are others walking with you. We have been down this path and are still walking it. While no words will ever be enough, try to gain strength in Lt. Hicks' memories for they will serve as a constant source from which you can draw. Although this is an incredibly difficult time, know that he will always be with each and everyone of you.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family of Lt. Hicks. Another brave and couageous person has fallen in the line of duty doing something that few people will and doing something that he probably loved doing. May his family have comfort in knowing that he is patrolling the streets of a much safer and calm place.

.......and come out--those who have done good things, to the resurrection of life, but those who have done wicked things, to the resurrection of judgment. John 5:29

There are but two persons who protect the sinful human race from destroying itself. One is God's Holy Spirit. The other is the Peace Officer. Without them, we would all perish at each other's hands.
According to Romans 13.1-5...
God ordains the Peace Officer’s profession.
The Peace Officer is sent by God.
The Peace Officer is vested with God's authority to enforce the law.
A Peace Officer's badge is to be honored by us, because it is honored by God.

To the Family of Lt. Glenn Hicks and the Avery County Sheriff's Office, your extended family of Law Enforcement Officers grieve with you during this time. Though our badges are different, the mission is the same. Rest in peace with the other fallen Heros, my brother. We will continue the fight in your honor.

My prayers go out to the family of Lieutenant Hicks. Three Officers left us in a hail of gunfire on 02/20/03 it is a very sad day for the law enforcement family. May we have peace knowing that there are three new officers on duty above us.
Thank you, Lieutenant Hicks, for you gave all in the line of duty.

Officer Brant Pewitt
Spring Hill P.D.,TN

My fiance, Dennis McElderry, was the first law enforcement casualty of 2003. It saddens me to know that Dennis was not the first to die in the line of duty, nor will he and Glenn be the be the last to die this way.

Having gone through the pain of losing Dennis I can truly understand and feel the pain that Officer Hicks' family, friends, and co-workers must be feeling. I wish I could give you a few words of wisdom to help you through this tough time, but there isn't anything I can really say or do to make the situation better. Please know that my thoughts are with you.

Please accept my condolences on behalf of the McElderry family and remember that Glenn is part of huge law enforcement family. If you ever need anything any number of them will be there for you (as I've quickly found out!) From reading the many reflections posted here, I am certain Glenn was well respected and well loved. Thank you for a job well done and for helping to make this world a safer place for us all. Please take care of my fiance Dennis.

Peace, Love, Luck, and Happiness!
