Reflections for Supervisor Stanley A. Wiley
Please remember the fallen officers we have lost. Remember the men and women who died trying to make this world a safer and better place for us all to live in. Thank you Supervisor Wiley for a job well done. Please continue to watch over us and protect us as only you can. You will forever be at our side and in our hearts.
For those of you who still have loved ones with us please take the time to tell them how much you appreciate and care about them.
IF I KNEW
If I knew it would be the last time
That I'd see you fall asleep,
I would tuck you in more tightly
and pray the Lord, your soul to keep.
If I knew it would be the last time
that I see you walk out the door,
I would give you a hug and kiss
and call you back for one more.
If I knew it would be the last time
I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise,
I would video tape each action and word,
so I could play them back day after day.
If I knew it would be the last time,
I could spare an extra minute
to stop and say "I love you,"
instead of assuming you would KNOW I do.
If I knew it would be the last time
I would be there to share your day,
Well I'm sure you'll have so many more,
so I can let just this one slip away.
For surely there's always tomorrow
to make up for an oversight,
and we always get a second chance
to make everything just right.
There will always be another day
to say "I love you,"
And certainly there's another chance
to say our "Anything I can do?"
But just in case I might be wrong,
and today is all I get,
I'd like to say how much I love you
and I hope we never forget.
Tomorrow is not promised to anyone,
young or old alike,
And today may be the last chance
you get to hold your loved one tight.
So if you're waiting for tomorrow,
why not do it today?
For if tomorrow never comes,
you'll surely regret the day,
That you didn't take that extra time
for a smile, a hug, or a kiss
and you were too busy to grant someone,
what turned out to be their one last wish.
So hold your loved ones close today,
and whisper in their ear,
Tell them how much you love them
and that you'll always hold them dear
Take time to say "I'm sorry,"
"Please forgive me," "Thank you," or "It's okay."
And if tomorrow never comes,
you'll have no regrets about today.

Supervisor Wiley walked where most people would never dare go. He protected us from the violent, ruthless killers living in his correctional institution. When people think about prisoners being locked away, they need to remember the brave souls, like Supervisor Wiley, who risk their lives keeping them there. To his family, may you find strenght in your faith, from each other, and fellow officers of Supervisor Wiley. I too, strongly want his memory to live on. Thanks for fighting the good fight, sir.

Saint Michael, heaven's glorious commissioner of police, who once so neatly and successfully cleared God's premises of all its undesirables, look with kindly and professional eyes on your earthly force.
Give us cool heads, stout hearts, and uncanny flair for investigation and wise judgment.
Make us the terror of burglars, the friend of children and law-abiding citizens, kind to strangers, polite to bores, strict with law-breakers and impervious to temptations.
You know, Saint Michael, from your own experiences with the devil, that the police officer's lot on earth is not always a happy one; but your sense of duty that so pleased God, your hard knocks that so surprised the devil, and your angelic self-control give us inspiration.
And when we lay down our night sticks, enroll us in your heavenly force, where we will be as proud to guard the throne of God as we have been to guard the city of all the people. Amen.

To the family of this fallen officer, know that at least he is in a better place. He did a job that not many people can do and I'm sure did to the best of his abilities. I hope that there is some peace that can be found in this terrible time. To Supervisor Wiley, I salute you sir. Godspeed on your journey to heaven.

The Officer's stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
They hoped their shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as their brass.
"Step forward now, Officers.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"
The men squared their shoulders and
The Policeman spoke first
"No, Lord, I guess We ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges
can't always be a saint.
We've had to work most Sundays,
and at times our talk was rough,
and sometimes we've been violent,
Because the streets are tough.
The Corrections Officer then added,
But we never took a penny,
That wasn't ours to keep...
Though we worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.
And we never passed a cry for help,
Though at times we shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive us,
We've wept unmanly tears.
Together they say,
We know We don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted us around
Except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for us here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
We never expected or had too much,
But if you don't...We'll understand.
There was silence around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the Officers waited quietly,
For the judgment of their God.
"Step forward now, Officers,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."

Another member of our ever decreasing family in blue...My condolences to his family, friends, and co-workers. It never ceases to amaze me how fragile life is and why some people just don't care about anything but themselves. I hope the coward who did this realizes what he took away from so many people. Thank you, Supervisor Wiley for your selfless service and sacrifice. It is a job far more dangerous than anybody on the outside realizes....
