Reserve Deputy Deborah Hobbs was under my supervision while working as a reserve deputy with this agency. Deborah was highly trained and speciffically trained to work DUI patrol and assist with collection and preservation and evidence at crime scenes. She performed her law enforcement work with a high degree of professionalism and pride. Deborah was a credit to law enforcement and this agency. We will miss her.

Another sister in blue has a heavenly patrol, it is so sad for us, happy for her reward in Heaven. Thank you, Deputy Hobbs. As a former Deputy Sheriff I too appreciate the role of Reserves, we could not have done it without you guys. Hug Billy and tell him we miss him.....

I know how hard it is to be a reserve in law enforcement. I was one for 8 1/2 yrs before I went full-time. People could not understand why I would do the job for a dollar a year, I told them it's because it was my dream to be in law enforcement. Reserve officers will always hold a special place in my heart. There is nothing I can say to take away the hurt for Deputy Hobbs' family and friends, but, I bet she died doing something she loved. She gave something that most of us will never have to give and I will remember her for that. Please remember to give your reserve officers their due. They bleed just like we do.
Deputy Faith Hill
Shelby County Sheriff's Office
My heartfelt condolences go out to the family and fellow officers in your time of mourning. While those of us remaining may not understand why you were taken from our ranks, you may rest in peace Deputy in the knowledge that those officers and deputies remaining will be closing ranks and covering your post for you on the thin blue line.

My most sincere condolences go out to the family, friends and colleagues of Reserve Deputy Hobbs. Though I did not know her, I can guess why she put on the uniform and went out to do her job. We are a grateful nation of people who recognize the sacrifice that officers like Deborah Jean give every day. We, the members of the International Association of Women Police, salute Reserve Deputy Hobbs as she begins her beat on heaven's streets.
