Reflections for Reserve Deputy Deborah Jean Hobbs
It will be 3 years since your passing and I'm sure for those that love you it has felt like a lifetime that you have been gone. Every day is a real challenge for those left behind but they will do everything in their power to keep your memory alive. You will never be forgotten by those that love you nor will the Family Blue ever forget you. You are a true hero.

Two souls melded into one. Suddenly violently ripped apart. Can one survive but with half a heart and soul? 3 years gone... but a blink in time, Yet.... an eternity in my heart'Only your love, so unyeilding, so so undying can keep me whole.
Love Always Bear

Though I have made mistakes, accept me, as I accept you and show me the way …..Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

Deborah, you took a job that not many people can do. Being a reserve is alot of work, time, and out of pocket money. People don't understand the time we put in to do the same job as a full time deputy with half the pay! And for this I salute you! It's been over one year, and you are not forgotten.
Please tell your local reserves how much you appreicate them everyday.

Ride Along
So you don’t like the ticket I just gave you.
Well, come take a ride with me.
A trip to the scene of an accident.
Where a person now struggles for freedom, and for life.
All because someone was in a hurry, or late for work.
You say you didn’t call me and you don’t need my help.
That this is a family matter and none of my business.
Come take a ride with me.
Where a child now cowers in the nearest corner, or bedroom closet.
They cover their ears and ask god “ please make them stop”.
Still think no one needs my help.
You’ve said all we do is eat donuts and drink coffee.
Come take a ride with me.
On the countless days after taking four calls in an hour.
We think we have time to sit down for dinner.
Only to be call away again.
You think we’re cold and have no heart.
Well, come take a ride with me.
To a place where the pipes now lay to rest.
A brother or sister who gave their life, for someone like you.
A place where tears fall like rain for their family,
For our family, and yes even for you.
Yeah, come take a ride with me.

IF I KNEW
If I knew it would be the last time
That I'd see you fall asleep,
I would tuck you in more tightly
and pray the Lord, your soul to keep.
If I knew it would be the last time
that I see you walk out the door,
I would give you a hug and kiss
and call you back for one more.
If I knew it would be the last time
I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise,
I would video tape each action and word,
so I could play them back day after day.
If I knew it would be the last time,
I could spare an extra minute
to stop and say "I love you,"
instead of assuming you would KNOW I do.
If I knew it would be the last time
I would be there to share your day,
Well I'm sure you'll have so many more,
so I can let just this one slip away.
For surely there's always tomorrow
to make up for an oversight,
and we always get a second chance
to make everything just right.
There will always be another day
to say "I love you,"
And certainly there's another chance
to say our "Anything I can do?"
But just in case I might be wrong,
and today is all I get,
I'd like to say how much I love you
and I hope we never forget.
Tomorrow is not promised to anyone,
young or old alike,
And today may be the last chance
you get to hold your loved one tight.
So if you're waiting for tomorrow,
why not do it today?
For if tomorrow never comes,
you'll surely regret the day,
That you didn't take that extra time
for a smile, a hug, or a kiss
and you were too busy to grant someone,
what turned out to be their one last wish.
So hold your loved ones close today,
and whisper in their ear,
Tell them how much you love them
and that you'll always hold them dear
Take time to say "I'm sorry,"
"Please forgive me," "Thank you," or "It's okay."
And if tomorrow never comes,
you'll have no regrets about today.

Yet another loss of such a courageuos soul. My thoughts and prayers are with the family of Officer Hobbs, especially her husband. Your wife will now keep a heavenly vigil upon you sir, as she did for countless others while on earth. May God be with you during this difficult time.
You will be missed Officer Hobbs. The dedication, service and sacrifice you gave to uphold law and order deserves and receives my utmost respect. May you rest in peace Ma'am.

My fiance, Dennis McElderry, was the first law enforcement casualty of 2003. Having gone through the pain of losing Dennis I can truly understand and feel the pain that Reserve Deputy Hobbs' family, friends, and co-workers must be feeling. I wish I could give you a few words of wisdom to help you through this tough time, but there isn't anything I can really say or do to make the situation better.
Please accept my condolences on behalf of the McElderry family and remember that Deborah is part of huge law enforcement family. If you ever need anything any number of them will be there for you (as I've quickly found out!) Deborah was well respected and well loved. Thank you for a job well done and for helping to make this world a safer place for us all. Please take care of my fiance Dennis.
Peace, Love, Luck, and Happiness!
