Shelia was my P.T. instructor in the summer of 1994, while I was a recruit at the Detroit Police Academy. The most vibrant thing I remember about Shelia, was her level of dedication and professionalism to demand the only best from us. Although, she is no longer here, her legacy will continue to live on in every member of this organization that she has touched.
She will be missed.

Sheila was always like a ray of sun shine, when she entered a room you just could not help but to smile along with her. She always had this energy that would tend to rub off on everyone else around her. Those of you how knew her know what I mean. Please, always remember her how she lived and smiled not how she died. I know I will!
Sheila rest in peace and know that all of your brothers and sisters will pick up where you left off. God Bless You...

To the family of Sheila Herring-Patrick. Words cannot express the sorrow that I felt upon learning of this tragic event. Sheila and I were scout car partners a decade ago. She was a courageous woman and dedicated officer of high integrity. Law enforcement has suffered a great loss. May she rest in peace.

The loss WE (Law enforcement) all suffer is unbearable. Nobody should lose their life this early. My department (Oakland) has lost many fine officers and it is never easy saying goodbye. We really should not say goodbye, we should say, UNTIL WE MET AGAIN...

Sheila, you're with your daughter now , you're in a better place now, but it still hurts. I remember the first time I spoke to you in the police academy, you yelled at me to " get down and give you fifty", thank you for making me aware of the dangers that lurk out in the streets. I'll always remember you for the caring, tough police officer/tac officer you are. 94-E/F will miss you greatly.

To the family, friends and fellow officer's of Officer Shelia Herring-Patrick:
My deepest sympathies go out to you all as you face what is clearly the worst fear of anyone who has ever known and loved a police officer. We are truly all one big family and we feel the pain you are going through. May God Bless you all and give you the strength to get through this and may you find comfort in the memories you have of Shelia. From reading these reflections, you can see what a wonderful person she was! A true hero!
I will keep you all in my prayers and I will also thank God that my husband made it home safely again tonight. As we all are, I am aware of what a blessing that truly is.
Thank you to all the law enforcement officers out there who watch over us and keep us safe. God Bless you all! And may Officer Herring -Patrick forever rest in peace. My deepest and most heartfelt sympathies.
