As a new Sergeant, the most terrible thing that could happen on my watch was to loose one of my officers. The officers from the C platoon A relief, will never forget this fallen angel. Life will never be the same for us.

Almost one year now...still in my heart and mind. We miss you so much "She"! We talk about you all the time and you stay on my mind, it seems even more so when I'm not at work. It's been a difficult year, and still no apparent answers, still I know that God does everything for a reason and one day maybe we'll understand. Until then, I'll keep you in my heart and my mind. We will carry on, knowing the presence of you is watching over so many of us from above.

Shift change at the time-clock will never be the same my sister!

Always faithful...Your "Brother" in Blue!

Sheila-
Not a day has gone by that I havent thought about you. Seeing your picture on the wall of the station every night after roll call gives me the strength to go back out on the street. To go back into the the same nightmare. Even though i try not to, I always find myself driving past the scene, wondering, thinking, praying to god that things could have been differant. I am honored to have know you and to have been with you in your darkest hours. I will NEVER forget you. God bless and I miss you. Go "67".

I have never visted this site before and I am shocked by the amount of American colleagues who have been killed in the line of duty. In my country we have recently lost a colleague who was shot which has made the headlines and made every officer here think deeply and reflect.
I think American officers do a fantastic job under extremely difficult circumstances. We all salute your courage
God bless Sheila.

She had been my wife, my lover, my friend...then she was my former wife and still my friend. On a cold January morning her body was stilled and made cold. Her warm and loving spirit lives on and on in my heart.

It's been seven months and two days and not a day or night goes by that I don't think about you. I feel like half the person I used to be. I always wanted to be just like you brave, and beautiful. We had just saw each other six hours before you passed away. The wonderful thing about being an identical twin was never guessing what the other was thinking because we were always thinking the same thing. I just miss you sooooooooo much. I will never be the same and I will never be okay!! I really miss my SHERO!!!!!

Forever In My Heart!!!

Here is a woman who spent much of her life serving others, having raised her daughters, spent time in the military and worked for so many years as a police officer in Detroit and Norfolk. My heartfelt condolences, thoughts and prayers go out to her family, particularly her daughter and twin sister. May they find comfort and peace in the knowledge that Sheila Herring served her country, community and family so faithfully. If we remember her by following her life's example, she will truly live on.

She will not be forgotten.

It has been over six months now, since that day the lord took you away. I still hear your voice, and see your smile in my mind everyday. Miss you, RuRu.

To the Family of Officer Herring,

We are so saddened by your lose. We feel your pain. My nephew was shot and killed on 5/28/03 in Chersterfield VA.

There are just no words to console you. The feeling of lose is so deep. There is a big hole where my heart once was.

I'll pray for your family and friends to find healing as i pray for us to find. The grief is unbearable.

Find peace in knowing that is what she loved to do and what she believed in most in the world.

She protects us from heaven now with my nephew Ryan. They are on God's watch together with all the wonderful souls of lost and dedicated officers that have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our safety.

God speed, Sister.
