Detective Schroeder, I have mentioned before my Father's 5 years as a NYCRR Police Officer, but I failed to mention that he did several years prior to that working the trains. His father was a brakeman and conductor on freight and passenger trains. My Uncle worked for the NYCRR and retired from CSX. My Grandfather's father got him the job on the railroad.
I may have never worked for the railroad, but thanks to my family, I feel a kinship with the rails and hence, I hold all railroad employees in high regard, but RR Police especially and of course, NYCRR in particular. You are a hero in my opinion and I will not forget your efforts and sacrifice.
God Bless you Brother.

Det. Schroeder, my Dad was a cop on the NYCRR for about 5 years in the late 50s and early 60s and often speaks with great fondness of his time there and how close everyone was. It's a safe bet that when you and your partner made the ultimate sacrifice, a terrific sadness decended over the whole department and you both were missed terribly. Thank you for helping to safeguard the railroads.
God Bless and Rest in Peace
