Reflections for Officer Christopher Robert Betts
While we slept in comfort and went about our daily lives, you were out there placing yourself in harms way so that we could continue to sleep safely. Eventually you gave your life in service to me, my family, friends and my neighbors.
You will always be honored in our memories and those officers on the East Point Police Force that live on and continue their duties in you absence will have my prayers and eternal gratitude for continuing where you left off.
You still live in their hearts and therefore you will always be on duty.
God Bless and Rest In Peace.
An East Point Resident
My deepest sympaty and prayers go out to the family and officers that knew Officer Betts. Yet another brother has gone home to patrol the streets of gold.

My heart aches for the young wife and son of Officer Betts.
I am a mother of a police officer and I am quite aware of the risks that my son takes every day. It is so sad to know that a little boy will never know his dad, but I know that through family and friends they will keep Chris alive and therefore he will know his dad.
Chris was too young to die but God had a plan. We do not know what that plan is but we have to believe that it was carried through for His purpose.
God Bless All Policemen and their families.
You are in my constant prayers.
Love, A Mother
My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Christopher Betts. May the LORD give you all the strength to face each new day with courage and honor, as I am certain my fellow brother (Christopher) did in Law Enforcement. It always grieves my spirit to read about fellow L.E.O. killed in the line of duty. >"Lord, protect us from the evil ones."<
Fellow Officers keep your chins up. Final justice comes from God.

I attended the prayer service for Officer Betts with my husband. I never knew Officer Betts, but I felt like I did from all the wonderful memories of Christopher my husband shared with me.
From one Officer's wife to another: I can't possibly know the grief you're feeling; but I do deeply feel pain and sadness for your loss. I know your son will grow up knowing what a decent, honorable, and courageous man his father was.
My deepest condolences and prayers to the Betts family. Your loss of a husband, father, brother and son is immeasurable.

This incident was forwarded to me by a friend who works at eastpoint. I was greatly shocked and saddened to hear about what happened. The officer was a young man with a great career ahead of him and has a very young family. This is tragic. My families thoughts are with his family and friends at this time and we send our condolences to all concerned at their time of need.

To officer Chris Betts wife, son and families, This is truly a
loss to all of us and may GOD bless you and comfort you. Officer Betts was a dedicated officer and we will all miss him, but the lord has said lay down thy servant, lay down and rest a little while. "Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me."
Psalm 22: 4

For a short time Ofc. Betts was the resident security officer at one of our apartment complexes. Very rarely were there any problems at this particular complex, but when something would occur, we never could seem to get there in time before Chris had already handled the incident. Whether it was a mob of drunk college kids or a bunch of snakes in the parking lot. We would get there just in time to say "Thanks Chris!." I wish I had something better to say, yet it still seems appropriate "Thanks Chris!" for laying your life down to protect my wife and child. Take comfort in this, I will do the same for you. You will not be forgotten
Ill 10-25 with ya a little later
ps. Bro! thats a halo, not a donut!

Just got to work tonight at 1900 hours after attending Christopher's funeral. I did not know Christopher other than that he was a brother officer.
Seeing the grief expressed by the family, friends and co-workers, attested to the importance that he played in the lives of those he touched. I have been a Law Enforcement Officer for the better part of 17 years and have attended more than a few funerals in that time. Each time, including this one, I am reminded of my/our mortality. We never know when it is going to be our "turn".
Christopher served his country and then later his community, paying the ultimate price. Tragically Christopher's son will grow up not knowing his father but can take solace in knowing that his father was an unsung hero. God rest his soul.
We'll miss you Officer Betts..........Thanks.

IT IS SO OFTEN THAT AN OFFICER STEPS OUT OF HIS CAR TO DEAL WITH A SUBJECT AND IT GOES TO A STRUGGLE. IT IS SUCH A TRAGETY THAT SUCH A YOUNG OFFICER LOOSE HIS LIFE DOING HIS JOB. OFFICER BETTS YOU WILL ALWAYS BE A HERO TO EVERYONE WHO KNEW YOU AND MANY WHO DON'T. GOD BLESS YOU FOR YOUR SACRAFICE AND GOD WATCH OVER YOUR FAMILY LEFT BEHIND.
YOU WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN.

I'm sorry that I didn't know Chris much beyond the 'hello, how are you?' stage, but there are so many people at our department who did know him and are devastated by his loss that I know he must have been really special. He won't be forgotten, and his memory will live on with his friends and co-workers...rest in peace.

I'm very sorry for the loss of Officer Betts. May he and his family be overwhelmed with the support and respect that he gave in the honor guard to other fallen heroes. You are in my prayers. His child suffered a great loss, and his/her pride in him can never be taken away.

My thoughts and prayers are with Officer Betts' wife, son, family, friends and co-workers. You will never be alone in your pain and sorrow, your law enforcement family will always be with you. How a man dies is not what makes him a hero, it is how he lived his life. Psalm 55:22

Dear Chris, I thank God for letting me be there for you. I know that you are in a better place. When your spirit left a part of me went with you but a part of you stayed with me. The last couple of days has been so hard for me. But knowing when I ask for a backup unit you will call 10-7 with the Angels enroute! I was so glad to be there for my friend! I thank God for letting me get to know you. I carry apart of you with me Chris I will never forget! God bless my fallen brother I will be my brother's keeper!!

What a tragedy. I'm sitting here realizing how lucky we all are to come home every night to our loved ones after completing our shift. Words cant heal the pain for Officer Betts family but all of us who pin on the badge will never forget the sacrifice of courageous officers like Officer Betts. When our time has come and they speak of us as a fallen comrade you hope they speak of a dedicated, brave, and caring man. In reading these reflections it's apparent that was the kind of man Officer Betts was. Rest in peace brother those of us left behind will pick up where you left off.
