Your heroism and service is honored today, the ninth anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
I was appalled when I learned of the circumstances of the four brutal murders which took place on this day twenty years ago. This incident must have devastated your community, and I am glad that final justice was rendered for you, Deputy Wilson, Deputy Roark, and for Pam Jones.
I pray for the solace of all those who love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever.
Rest In Peace

Buck,
It was an honor for me to get to know and work with you. You were always a joy, no matter what time I would call you out. And the prisoners knew pretty quick, that you meant business and that you were a true professional. You were less than a month away from your well deserved retirement, but God had another assignment for you. We, that are left down here, have heavy hearts and tears in our eyes, but you are with your Lord to prepare your Mansion for your wife and family. You have been reunited with your son, who was taken away from you too young, in that motorcycle accident. I felt that you deserved to be honored, by having your name and sacrifice placed on this wonderful web site. I look forward to patrolling with you again some day. Until then I will keep the faith, and think of you often. You and your family, as well as Keith and his injuries, are in my prayers. Rest well my friend. Chip

THE POLICEMAN’S LAST ROLL CALL ...
THE POLICEMAN STOOD AND FACED HIS GOD, WHICH MUST ALWAYS COME TO PASS.
HE HOPED HIS SHOES WERE SHINING, JUST AS BRIGHTLY AS HIS BRASS.
"STEP FORWARD NOW, POLICEMAN. HOW SHALL I DEAL WITH YOU?
HAVE YOU ALWAYS TURNED THE OTHER CHEEK? TO MY CHURCH HAVE YOU BEEN TRUE?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain’t.
Because those of us who carry badges can’t always be a Saint.
I’ve had to work most Sundays, and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I’ve been violent because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny that wasn’t mine to keep,
though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills just got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help, though sometimes I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me, I’ve wept many unmanly tears.
I know I don’t deserve a place among the people here,
they never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you’ve a place for me Lord, it needn’t be so grand.
I never expected or had too much, but if you don’t, I’ll understand."
There was silence all around the throne where the Saints had often trod.
As the Policeman waited quietly, for the judgement of his God.
"Step forward now, policeman, you’ve borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven’s streets, you’ve done your time in hell."

Memorial Poem
From the treacherous tiers of every institution
To the transports on our Highways each day,
We'll always remember our fallen co-workers
Who are no longer with us, as we pray.
~~~
While each day they performed their duties
Of care, custody and control
And as the days, weeks and years went by
They're now gone before they grew old.
~~~
Corrections is the type of work
That we put our lives on the line each day
But to the grieving spouse or the parentless child
It's hard to know what to say.
~~~
So as we reflect on our fallen co-workers
At this very time each year
All the memories do come back to us
Bringing laughter, sadness and tears.
~~~
So on this day to remember
Their memories will be in our heart
We'll never forget what they've done for us
Paving the way for a brand new start.
~~~
Because of their sacrifices, I ask you lord
To watch over us each day
And give us the strength to do the job
So no one else will ever have to pay.
~~~
So to all our fallen co-workers
May you always rest in peace
I promise you'll never be forgotten
And your memories will never cease
