Reflections for Deputy Sheriff George Monroe Selby
Another warrior lost in a senseless act of cowardice on the part of someone with no regard for human life and the people Deputy Selby leaves behind. My thoughts and prayer go out to Deputy Selby and his family and friends, the thin blue line has gotten a little smaller but we will continue on in your name.
Senior Patrol Ofc Kevin Armstrong
Anchorage Police Department
Rest in peace my brother. God bless your family and friends, you are a true hero in this war we face each day. Please watch over all of us who continue to fight for justice.

THE POLICEMAN'S LAST ROLL CALL ...
THE POLICEMAN STOOD AND FACED HIS GOD, WHICH MUST ALWAYS COME TO PASS. HE
HOPED HIS SHOES WERE SHINING, JUST AS BRIGHTLY AS HIS BRASS. "STEP FORWARD
NOW, POLICEMAN. HOW SHALL I DEAL WITH YOU? HAVE YOU ALWAYS TURNED THE OTHER
CHEEK? TO MY CHURCH HAVE YOU BEEN TRUE?"
THE POLICEMAN SQUARED his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a Saint. I've had to
work most Sundays, and at times my talk was rough, and sometimes I've been
violent because the streets are awfully tough. But I never took a penny that
wasn't mine to keep, though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills just
got to steep. And I never passed a cry for help, though times I shook with
fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept many unmanly tears. I know I
don't deserve a place among the people here, they never wanted me around
except to calm their fear. If you've a place for me Lord, it needn't be so
grand. I never expected or had too much, but if you don't, I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne where the Saints had often trod. As
the policeman waited quietly, for the judgement of his God. "Step forward
now, policeman, you've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on Heaven's
streets, you've done your time in hell."

My thoughts and prayers are with Deputy Sheriff George Selby's wife, children, family, friends, co-workers. We are all with you to share your pain and grief. I also was left alone with twon small children. It is no easy task to raise your two children alone and help them cope, but you can always keep their father alive in your hearts and minds. Their dad will always be known as a hero!!

It is just horrific to continue to see our brothers and sisters taken out of this world away from their families. Being the father of two small children, I get so angry to see this happening. God Bless Deputy Selby and his family. May those two children have solace in their hearts and always know that their daddy loved them and is a true hero.
Rest In Eternal Peace my brother!!!!!

Two years ago on the same day my son-in-law was KLOD and the notice that another officer had died on the same day breaks my heart.
Deepest sympathy to the family of DS Selby. He gave the ultimate for his children to have a safe community. May God grant you the Supreme peace that only He can grant.
Know that others share in your grief.

I went to high school with George at Skyview Academy and did not know him well then but recently a webpage had been started for Skyview Alumni and I spoke to George often on this page along with many other of his friends. Thanks to this webpage, I got to know George, talk of old times and hear of his wonderful wife and children. I feel blessed to have been able to know George even if only for a short period of time and his smile will for ever be in my heart and memory. From someone who has also lost a loved one to a senseless act my thoughts and prayers are with his family. God Bless you George and bless your family. My heart and prayers go out to you in this most difficult period. May God see you through.
