I would like to send my deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Officer Scales. I was there that horrifying day as standby. To hear of a member in uniform down is the worst feeling in the world. And even worse when personell can not do anything to help, is also a terrible feeling. I was not on scene but my one partner was, and to hear her side of the story, has affected me just as much as everyone else. The feeling of helplessness can emotionally effect people in different ways. It is hard to accept the fact that we can not help someone in certain situations, no matter how hard we try. I want the family to know that my fellow co-workers who arrived on scene tried thier best.
To the family, My prayers are with you. May God bless Lisa and those three beautiful children. Be strong for God is watching over you.
