Reflections for Trooper Joseph James Sepp, Jr.

Brother Sepp,

The whole Department is saddened by the loss of another brother. We are scarred forever but not broken. We will continue to carry on the tradition remembering Troop's like yourself. Watch over the Department from above. We already lost 3 Troops this year. Watch over the family, friends and all other law enforcement officers that make this country the greatest country in the world.

...a brave man fell. Rest easy now, the tour is over.

Master Officer
Raleigh Police, N.C.

To the family of Trooper Sepp, I do not possess the words that will bring Trooper Sepp back to us. Nor, do I have the ability stop the next senseless loss of another. But, I can assure you this, that what he died for was, and will always be for the betterment of your community and your country. His legacy will be remembered, not for his passing, but for the difference that he made and the duty that he loved to endure. He made a commitment, one to himself, to his family, to his higher being, and to the purpose of what he believed in. Your loss is our loss, as we honor him and those before him and to those that will follow. Remain focused on the hundreds of lives that he changed, and to the hope that he created. In the evening sky, look up to the millions of shining stars that were created by the brilliance of his and many others determination to make the world a safer place. It is the brave men and women such as he that make me proud to be who we are. I shed a tear in his departure and gain the courage to face the new day. Thank-You for your dedication and support for making his dream a reality. My thoughts to you and yours.

Officer Sepp,
You are a great person for making the Ultimate Sacrifice. You are gone but that doesn't mean you will ever be forgotten. What a guy!

To family and friends- I pray that God takes you all into his arms. I can only imagine what pain you all feel. Justice will come in time. The Boy (men don't use guns to take innocent lives) that did this will pay dearly. God Bless... ~*ANDI*~

POLICEMAN'S PRAYER

WHEN I START MY TOUR OF DUTY, GOD
WHEREVER CRIME MAY BE,
AS I WALK THE DARKENED STREETS ALONE,
LET ME BE CLOSE TO THEE.

PLEASE GIVE ME UNDERSTANDING
WITH BOTH THE YOUNG AND OLD.
LET ME LISTEN WITH ATTENTION
UNTIL THEIR STORY'S TOLD.

LET ME NEVER MAKE A JUDGEMENT
IN A RASH OR CALLOUS WAY,
BUT LET ME HOLD MY PATIENCE,
LET EACH MAN HAVE HIS SAY.

LORD, IF IT IS YOUR WILL
THAT I GO UP TO HEAVEN'S GATE,
PLEASE BLESS AND PROTECT MY FAMILY
AS THEY ACCEPT MY FATE.----

I am so sorry that you are about to go through what so many of us have had to experience. You have a family out here. We are all spouse survivors, just like you. We may be at different times in our grief, but we feed off of each others strength and help each other out.
I am a widow- My husband Capt. Scott Monier was shot on April 24,2002. I have two girls 7 & 11. I would be glad to help you in any way that I can. If someone could make sure she gets this. I would appreciate it. Breath in breath out

Trooper Sepp,

Your badge has turned to wings of gold worthy of the man you are. Thank you for giving so much of yourself to our county. The thin blue line though bruised by your loss has not been broken. We will continue the work you believed in and protect those you loved. Your memory has become our partner helping us soldier on.

Your wife and children will be kept in our thoughts and prayers. We will always be here for them as members of your family in "blue".

"The Monument" (momento mori)
written by Detective S. D. Meska

There's a memorial in Washington
with names engraved in stone,
and I stood there not so long ago,
my thoughts and I alone.

There's the name of a City Policeman,
there's a Trooper and a Fed.
It reads like a mournful metronome,
this monument to our dead.

And as I stood there reading,
with roses for the brave,
I heard a spectral voice ring out
as if from beyond the grave.

"We are the dead of Law Enforcement,"
the spirit voice began,
"And I think we have the right
to ask some questions, man to man."

"Have you learned anything at all,
from the way we passed away?"
"Is there something there that just might help,
you survive another day?"

"Does a flag draped coffin in America,
now mean anything at all?"
"I wonder how my family felt,
when they got that late night call."

"And when they took us to the grave yard,
escorted by ranks of blue,
did you start to realize,
the next one might be you?"

"There's lessons here that might save you,
if only you will heed."
"But I wonder if a dead cop's mother,
ever is in need."

"And the children we left behind,
so lost, alone, and small."
"Can they replace their Parent,
with a photo on the wall?"

"We're buried, now, and so long gone,
And all the tears have dried."
"And we probably died in vain,
but learn from how we died."

Let us all learn from your example.
Let us always remember the survivors.
Let us place no more names on those granite walls.

This is my prayer

Cambria County Resident

God Speed Trooper Sepp. I will pray for your family and friends.
