Larry,
On your birthday and EVERY day, you are still loved and missed by so many (including me, of course!). I will always remember how you were able to make my day whenever I saw you. This world is a better place because you were part of it. And I am a better person for having had the privilege of knowing you as my friend.
Happy Birthday & an early Merry Christmas!
Love Always,
Amy

I was just sitting here at work today, and all of a sudden it hit me. That 3 days ago marked the 7th anniversary of your passing. And I realize now, that on that day, it didn't even cross my mind. This does NOT in any way mean that I have forgotten about you. I was with my husband and our little boys at the park Saturday afternoon. You were such a big family man, I'm sure you would understand.
Please know that you are stilly truly loved and deeply missed by many (including me). You will ALWAYS be remembered. In my heart, we are forever friends.
Love and miss you much!

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 7th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
In reading your reflections, I can see that you were an amazing man who is loved and missed by so many. I personally thought the reflection left by an old schoolmate who was incarcerated under your supervison evidenced the great esteem in which you were held. I am glad your community has honored you with the naming of the highway after you.
To your parents and son, I know the hurt never goes away...the pain and pride is forever.
Rest In Peace

Larry Lee and I went to school together. Later, "Larry Lee" had become Officer Lee of the Jackson County Sheriff's Dept. and was one of my keepers at the Jackson County ADC. In his role as corrections officer, Larry always treated us with as much respect as we would let him. It was rough back then at the ADC. This was 1981-83 and we were a bunch of knot-heads, the inmates I mean. Several times I witnessed Larry handling tough guys like they were puppies. He was honest, respectful, and he did his job with compassion.
Officer Lee, can I call you Larry? Man, I couldn't believe that you had been taken so young! I have always remembered you and compared other of my many keepers to follow with you. Even though you were young, it seemed you had a deeper understanding than other "Officers". I appreciate you, Larry, and I feel you went out doing what you wanted to do, serving our community.
Thank you so much for all the times you helped me out of those lock-downs. You knew I was just a knuckle-head.
Sincerely,
Mark, steven mcdaniel
To the Reader: I was an inmate from 1981 until 1989. 19 when I went in and 27 when I got out. This is meant as a sincere reflection to whom I consider an old friend and not in any way to be rude or disrespectful towards Larry or anyone else. Please understand, I was under many Officers, but few could hold a light to Larry. Matter of fact, a lot could have used his skill.

Larry,
Just wanted you to know you're on my mind today. I was already thinking about you as I was driving to work this morning. I was stopped at a red light on Hwy 90 in Gautier, waiting for the light to turn green. I looked over at the Gautier PD car in the left turn lane. It had an MPPD 105 sticker on the back windshield. That was to me a reminder that you have not been forgotten... I still love you and miss you, my friend! May God wrap His loving arms around your family and friends today, tomorrow, and always....
Forever in our hearts,
Amy

The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.
