Reflections for Patrolman Harry Marvin "Marty" Steinfeldt, III

To Marty aka ~TSO~Longshot, husband, father to be, friend, brother, hero.

Although we only knew each other over the Internet, playing Delta Force 2, we were friends. Although I never even knew your full name until after your untimely death, we were brothers. Although I have never met you in person and shaken your hand, you character transended the digital barrier and knowing you has enriched my life. Although I have many friends in blue, you were special. I grieve for your wife and unborn child as I grieve for the community of Ferris. The people and community you have left behind have lost more than just a friend, husband, father to be, they have lost a true American Hero.

The most precious commodity known to man can not be bought. It can not be sold. It can not be traded. It can not hoarded or stockpiled waiting on a better price. It can only be given. And when it is given to you by someone as special as Patrolman Stienfeldt, you to will know that friendship is our most precious commodity.

You will be sorely missed by your brothers and sisters at TSO and in the Delta Force community at large, and most especially by me, your friend. I am proud to have known you and to have called you a friend and brother. You have left this world a better place, and knowing you has enriched my life. Rest in peace bro, rest in peace.

Sincerely,
John Culbertson

It is always amazing that in something so trivial as a game, that something so important as a friendship develops. For those of us at TSO Marty was "Longshot", a valued team mate and good friend.

In the seconds it took to read about his passing it became painfully obvious to us all that no earthly length of time is ever enough for a friendship to last.

In times like these there are plenty of speechless moments, tears, sorrow, emptiness, but there is plenty of words of hate etc.....towards those whom would do such a terrible thing to another.
I never new Marty other than he and I were on the same df2 squad and we spoke on ICQ (on the internet). I still feel a tremendous loss, but none like that for whom really knew him, my heart, sorrow, prayers goes out to his loved ones, and his fellow brothers there in Texas who served along side of him.
Man........this really sucks, I wish I could say something to make it better...but unfortunately that isn't possible.
I always tell everyone time is a healer, that my friends is the truth no matter how hard or harsh it may sound. We at ~TSO~ his online family of df2 we are in the process of setting up a fund for in his memory for his family. It's the least we can do for his family, I am not certain if anyone from our squad has spoke with anyone, visit our site (public forums) and there you can enter the Topic advising everyone of this great loss to the world n you could let us know through that where the donations can be sent....
Thank you and once again I/we are very very sorry to hear this... he may of not been in the marines but semper fi my brother, rest in peace.

Marty
We meet on the internet and shared our love of family, police work and gaming on the computer. This is a tragedy and you will be missed. My family prays for your family and the members of your department. We never had the chance meet in real life but I know we all met again someday brother.
Mathew 5: 9 Blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called the sons of god.

I am deeply saddened by another fine officer gunned down in the line of duty. This tragic incident just displays once again that a cops life is over in any given minute while doing his job.
I am very proud to call you a brother and myself along with all other brother and sister police officers in this great country mourn the loss of your life by criminal activity that is senseless and wrong.
The world was a better place because you were here brother Steinfelt. God will look after your wife and unborn child due to the sacifice you made to make this a better place to live for all people.
May God reward you greatly. Sr.Cst C.Murray # 11160

My father, Charlie Keele, is an Ennis Police Officer. He contacted me to advise me of this grave incident. Myself, as well as all of the officers in this agency and in Galveston County wish to extend our deepest condolences to the family, the officers, and the community of Ferris for the tragic and senseless murder of Marty Steinfeldt III.
Our hearts are heavy, and our resolve has grown!

Senior Patrol Sgt. Tracy Keele
Dickinson Police Dept

My heartfelt sympathy goes to this family because of this tragedy. When will it all stop!!! These evil people are taking far too many innocent lives of our officers. When my son Officer Joey Vincent was shot and killed in 1999, the murderer also took the life of Joey's pregnant wife, along with the life of my sister and her husband. I am still grieving for them and hate to see other families have to go through this. May this family have comfort in knowing there are those of us out there that care and are praying for them.

Jean Vincent

Officer Steinfeldt, you are a true hero, may God bless you and your family, you truly made a difference, while you were here.

A Silent Prayer
Every night I sit alone and pray a silent prayer, and when I'm sleeping late at night have dreams I cannot bear.
Lord keep him safe from any harm as he helps those in need,
and puts his life on the line, a hero yes indeed.
I know his job is hard at times not knowing what to do,
when dispatch calls with a man down in his brotherhood of blue.
A fallen angel was buried last week on a glum and sorrowful day,all because a public sevant has a price to pay.
A routine check is what they said the night he lost his life, but nothing seemed routine at all for his children and his wife.
So send your wish to heaven tonight and hope that it comes true, please remember the prayers of an officers wife and the trials that she braves too.

Rest in peace now brother, we have your watch.
