Although a decade has passed since that terrible day you are still in our hearts and minds. Pictures of you and your family hang in the roll call room reminding us everyday before we head out that you are there watching over us. Wish I could have made it to the memorial service your family planned yesterday, but unfortunately was with my partner sending you another angel to watch over us. Maybe you can meet up with her, I'm sure my partner would like that. God bless you and your family Ben.

Remembering you and your family. You were humble in spirit. Compassionate and always a helping hand. I still remember telling other workers .... "Don't be so hard. Even a fool has a story to tell'.

To my brother in arms,
I was thinking about you today. I remember dragging Harold up on those same tracks in three feet of snow with him complaining the whole way. The things we do to try and make a difference. You were that guy that was always happy and made everyone leave role call with a smile on their face. I miss you, man.

To the family and friends of Officer Benjamin Perez and to his fellow officers, and most especially to Benjamin:
On behalf of our entire family, we wish to pay honor to Benjamin's memory on the sixth anniversary of the day Benjamin so tragically lost his life. His heroism, valor and bravery will be forever remembered.
May you be continue to be comforted by the support and caring of your law enforcement family, and other police survivors. We grieve for you and with you.
Our family lost our beloved Larry Lasater when he was fatally shot in April of 2005 during a foot pursuit of two bank robbers, so we know the anquish you are still experiencing.
Rest in Peace, Benjamin. May your spirit continue to soar and your memory continue to inspire.
This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the service Benjamin gave to his community and the citizens of Illinois, and the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on September 18, 2002.

Thinking of you today, May 15th, National Police Memorial Day. Today my wife attended the Police Memorial Ceremony at the American Police Hall of Fame in Titusville, Florida. She placed a blue rose with your picture below the marble panel where your name appears. The tribute will remain there for as long as there is room below your panel. Now anyone who visits can put a face with your name. Continue to keep watch over all of your loved ones. You have not been forgotten.

Ben, Sometimes I wonder why God takes the good ones so soon. I then think to myself that its not the amount of time that you spend on this earth, but the amount of lives that you touch. As you look down from heaven I hope you can see how many lives you affected in a positive way. You will never be forgotten.
