Checking in today. Never forgotten Ben. Meet up with our sister Ella, share some stories. Things are so different now, yet, the same. Different in the way things are done, same as in the love we have for each other. Please continue to watch over our police family. Rest easy brother!

Although I never knew you, I often find myself looking at your picture that's framed in my dads office or admiring the memorial thats on 53rd and Nashville, and I can't help but think about the kind of person that you were. Hearing old stories from my pops makes me appreciate police officers like you even more and makes me wonder why bad things happen to good people. I hope your family is doing well, and I hope your legacy lives on forever.

Ben, Your wisdom, humor, heart and kindness are always remembered. The kids are at ages where they are missing you all over in a different way as they come to age. We share your amazing character and strength with them so they can know they have it in them. They do, so please watch over them. Love and miss you being here for everything. You were an amazing father to Katarina Ben and Becky, and taken away in a flash. Always in our hearts.

Rest in peace Chicago Police Officer Benjamin Perez. It has been 12 years since I was on the scene that day. What a horrible way to die! I was just looking at your star, in the case at CPD HQ. I will never forget what happened that day, I use that incident as an example of what can happen around railroad tracks, and how dangerous it can be. Your shift was over for eternity on Wednesday, September 18, 2002. Rest in peace my brother, your job is done, the rest of us have it from here on!
