Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Morris L. Taylor
"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

Dear Son:
This evening is Christmas Eve,you will be spending another Christmas with our Lord. One day we will all be together.
I miss you so much, not a day goes by that I don't think of you. I'm just so very grateful for the time that we did have you. I remember Christmas mornings, how excited you would get, that great smile of yours, would light up the whole room. Just want you to know that we are thinking of you.
Love,
Mom

Just stopped in to let you know that you have not been forgotten. I've decorated the exterior of my home in all blue lights and one of those lights has been assigned to you and will be lit every night until New Years to honor your memory and let you know that you have not been forgotten. Continue to keep watch over your loved ones and let them feel your presence so they know you are near.

The previcious reflections indicate Morris was a Member of Calvary in Roseburg Org. and many people and chuldren loved him.
He is with the Lord today, and we shall seehim some day soon.
Morris stated to his day " Every Christian should be an expectat no a sleep onlooker".

Morris! Several of us at work, at Fallbrook (SH32), were reminiscing about you the other day - about some of the crazy, zany, things you use to pull to make us laugh. LOL! My youngest son, Aaron, is 17 now and playing varsity football. Wish you were around to attend a game. He brought up that fishing trip to Doans Pond, when he was 3, and how you "caught" that duck and it's eventual outcome - our little secret ;-). You, sir, are hard to forget - even to a then 3 year old! You are greatly missed, my brother. Pray the Lord continues to care for your wife, parents and sister. Love ya, bro!

Lord come quickly.I cannot go on much longer with this pain.As my eyes fill with tears I can barely write this reflection. Its just as hard and maybe even harder to bear this pain.Tell Morris Hello and I love him and can't wait to see him again. Dear friends especially unbelievers. Please walk with our Lord so we all can be together one day. You don't know when its your last day. If you died today where are you gonna spend eternity? Please I bid you to believe as Morris would ask me to tell you about Jesus dying on the cross for you and I. I love you guys and care about you fellow law enforcement guys.Love,Margaret

First of all to the family of Deputy Taylor...your reflections are very moving and speaks volumes of Morris' character. But please find comfort in knowing that there are so many of us that think often about him, all our other brothers we have lost, as well as all the families affected by such sickening senseless violence. My prayers go out to you and I know that Deputy Taylor is watching down and protecting the rest of us while we continue what he started. God bless.

Our Angel Morris~
It is so hard to believe that it has been 5 years since you were taken from us. Five years since that fateful day that changed all of our lives forever.
Some days it seems like just yesterday that we saw that smile and that twinkle in your eyes. Then other days it seems like a million years since we heard your laughter.
A lot of things have changed here in Douglas County since we lost you. But the way you are missed and thought of will never change.
We Loved & Missed You Then, We Love & Miss You Now and We Will Love & Miss You Forever #108!

Our Dear Morris:
No farewell words were spoken, No time to say good-bye.
You were gone before we knew it, and only God knows why.
Our hearts still aches in sadness, and secret tears still flow. What it meant to lose you, no one will ever know.
You and angels around God's happy throne. We love and miss you so very much. You are in our thoughts always.
Love you,
Mom, Dad, your sister Melissa

I can't believe it's been 5 years now since you joined the heavenly angel band. I still recall that HUGE smile on your face the day you and Marg flew in to meet me at the Florence airport! You had recently received your pilots license and were proud as punch about it!
I remember you insisting on paying for my lunch and I promised I'd get it next time.
I sure miss you mentoring me in my Law Enforcement career. You'd have been proud of me when I took the job of Federal Court Law Officer because I WITNESSED to all the clients held captive in my waiting area!!I even witnessed to a few Federal Judges.(They were not impressed.)
I would not have had that BOLDNESS for CHRIST had it not been for you,Mo and I intend on thanking you as soon as we meet again in heaven. And by the way, lunch will be on me!

YOU RAISE ME UP
When I am down and oh my soul so weary
When troubles come and my heart burdened be
Then I am still and wait here in the silience
Untile you come and sit awhile with me.
You raise me UP so I can stand on mountains
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas
I am strong when I am on your shoulders
You raise me up to more than I can be.
This was one of the songs Morris Taylor loved
He said God Raised Him Up To More Than He Could Be.
HIS WIFE, MOM, DAD, SISTER, AND THE OFFICERS AND FRIENDS OF DOUGLAS COUNTY WILL REMEMBER MORRIS, HIS SMILE,AND HIS LOVE FOR GOD,FAMILY AND JOB.

Morris Hello and God bless you and your family
Although we've never met I'm told our fathers are cousins. I log in occasionally to read your reflections and the present one from your Dad pulls at my heart it's simple and says it all he is "thinking of you" and I wanted you to know so do I. We have several relatives in law enforcement from Knoxville TN, Troy Michiga and here in Baltimore and we know that you watch over us all. Thanks again and Bless you and you family.
