I find myself thinking about you and Crawford eating lunch down in Bowdon seems like it was every night, How you always had a kind word for everyone you came in contact with, I'm proud to have worked with you, and take comfort in knowing that you are patrolling the streets of gold in your fathers kingdom. I miss you Brother.

Billy,
It's so hard to believe it's been 5 years. I thought about you on Monday. Anderson and I and Phillip's son, Kenny, and Jamey Wakefield went to the Braves game. They played the Philadelphia Phillies and WON! I couldn't help thinking that if you'd still been here, you and Matthew would have been my invited guests. I remember how we had discussed doing things like that just before Anderson was born. You should see him now....5 yrs old, in Pre-K at Ephesus and so much energy. You'd think he was a cool little guy, which he is. I just hate it that the two of you never got to know one another. I know he would have loved "Uncle Billy" just like we all did and STILL do. You are truly missed; not just on the anniversary of your tragic departure, but EVERY day that goes by.
Until we meet again,
Kevin

May all friends and family take comfort in the fact that you will FOREVER be a hero and NEVER be forgotten! PS - I am very, very happy that your fellow officers were able to avenge your death :)

Today is five years since that awful day you left us. We continue to go on without you. However, not having you here with us is not easy. We struggle with your loss daily.

You were a the top of pile in everything you did. Many men talk a good game. You, on the other hand, not only talked it you lived it. Billy, you were on of the finest law enfrocement officers to ever wear the badge.

We miss you and still think of you. You taught us alot while you were with us here on earth and even in death you are still teaching us.

With all of our respect,
Carroll County Sheriff's Office

Billy,

Can you believe it? Haleigh started high school today. You would have been so proud. She is you made over. She jumped out of the car with a smile the size of Texas and away she went. Her head held high just like you always told her. She made the Jr. Varsity Softball Team. She is playing her heart out.

Matthew will start school tomorrow. Third grade already. He is also so much like you. He has a kind heart and spirit that only you could have given him. He will play fall baseball. He enjoys sports but not like hunting and fishing.

We still miss you terribly, almost five years. You will never know how much you were and still are loved.

I just found this site today and am glad I did. Billy was one of the best friend I ever had and it does not seem it has been almost 5 years. He was a very special person and neighbor. He truly made a difference in my life, just as he did with every one he met.

Holly, I know this is something you will never get over and I have not seen you in several years, but please know that I think about you often as I do Billy. I sincerely enjoyed our friendship and being honored to have the opportunity to work with Carrollton Police Department and 911.

Take care and God bless,

We are getting ready for the 4th of July. I remember you and your family always being at the parade and fireworks. You always looked so happy. The community and your department miss you more than you could ever imagine.

Billy,
Just had you on my mind lately. Watching Haleigh and Matthew grow up, I know you would be so proud. Haleigh is becoming a beautiful young lady. Matthew is getting taller, taking after his "Pap". I remember how we had planned to do things with him and Anderson as they grew up and I truly miss having the opportunity to do that with you now. You'd think Anderson was a "neat kid". He'll soon be 5 and can carry on a conversation with anyone. Angie and I don't get to spend as much time with Holly and the kids as we'd like to due to the busy schedules we all have. School is almost out for the year and Angie's mom and dad will be going on vacation with us to Destin again in a couple of weeks. I was just thinking about the trip to Florida we took with you, Holly and the kids and thinking about the RED kool-aid incident. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of you and all the good times we shared over the years. I carry a picture of the two of us that was taken at my wedding. It reminds me of how you were always there for me when I needed a shoulder to lean on or an ear to listen. I miss being able to pick up the phone and call you to see if you want to go get a bucket of wings or grill a steak or go for "an order over medium with hashbrowns scattered well" at Waffle House.
As the sticker on my truck window says, you are "Greatly missed, but forever in our hearts."

Wanted to drop by and let you know that you and your family were thought of today. I rode on a motorcycle today with a flag bearing your name in the Blue Knights Police Memorial Ride. Just wanted to tell you thank you for your service and sacrifice.

Hey bubba,

There's still not a day that goes by that I don't think of you. Everyday i train Marines to be the best that they can be. I do it with as much enthusiasum and energy as i can give. They will be leaving for iraq in Sept. This time i won't be with them. I pray all the time that god will see them through just as he did for me. I got to spend time with Haleigh and mathew this christmas. It was such a joy. They have grown so much. Haleigh has turned into a beautiful young lady and matthew is as just as fearless as I was at his age. I love you bubba till next time. Brent

Lt. Billy Jiles,

You are my hero and I am about to graduate with an associates degree in criminal justice and I hope that I can be a great officer like you. You are my inspiration for being in law enforcement. You have been a great friend to so many people and I know that you are being a great angel for the Lord. I Love and Miss you so much. I will see you again someday but until then I know that you are watching over all of us (friends and family). #908 Heroes Never Die!

I just found this site.

I only knew Billy for a short while, but I very quickly grew to like him and his family. We went to church with them so I know exactly where he is now. The best thing I can think to say about Billy is that he loved his family, and no one ever took a ride in the back seat of his car without hearing about Jesus.

God bless you Billy

You are missed

To the family and loved ones of Lieutenant Billy Ray Jiles and his fellow deputies with the Carroll County Sheriff's Department:

On this the fourth annniversary of Billy's tragic death, I wanted to honor and remember him today. Billy's professionalism and dedication will never be forgotten, nor will his valor and courage.

I hope that God is holding him in the sweetest part of his heart and the most gentle part of his soul. No doubt that Heaven has another hero in Billy, but I am so sorry you had to lose your beloved. May you all continue to be comforted by your faith and your law enforcement family and other police survivors.

In reading the loving reflections left for Billy, it is obvious he was well loved and admired and is so missed by so many.

I am so sorry that Billy was robbed of his life so young and so tragically, but through his heroism and the profound sense of duty with which he lived his life, he made an immeasurable difference. May his spirit continue to soar and may his memory continue to inspire.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the twenty years of dedicated service Billy gave to his community and the citizens of Georgia, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on September 3, 2002.
