It is a true shame that a person has decided that he no longer wants to live. But it is a tragedy when he wants to take innocent people with him. Lt. Jiles my deepest sympathy to your family, friends, and your department. May they all know you are in a better place watching over all of us. Rest is peace.

It's difficult to imagine that in today's civilized society that our nation looses an officer in the line of duty every two and a half days. Lt. Jiles was someone's son, husband, father, friend and co-worker, and gave his life protecting the lives of those in his community. Our thoughts and prayers are will all those who knew and loved him. As some of us know, officers give more than tickets, some give thieir lives.

I come to this website every so often hoping that no names have been added since my last visit, and most times I am disappointed to learn yet more names are listed. When another officer goes down in the same state, it becomes a just a little more personal.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the Carroll Co. Sheriffs Dept and to the family of Lt. Jiles. May you all be consoled by Gods Grace in this very difficult time.
Cpl. Bob Fermier

I never thought it would be me,
My name for all of eternity.
Recorded here at this hallowed place,
Alas, my name, no more my face.
"In the line of duty" I hear them say,
My family now the price to pay.
My folded flag stained with tears,
We only had those few short years.
The badge no longer on my chest,
I sleep now in eternal rest.
My sword I pass to those behind
And pray they keep this thought in mind.
I never dreamed it would be me.
And with a heavy heart and bent knee,
I ask for all here from the past...
Dear God, let my name be the last.

On Sept. 3 2002 this nation lost a good husband, daddy and friend. Billy was a good friend not only to myself but to everyone he met. He will be missed, but not forgotten. To his wife and children by God bless you and be with you everyday.
A little thing someone told me that night at the hospital. Think of it as if you were picking roses. You look though the garden and some look better than others. Some have started to wither, and some are just coming into a beautiful bloom. Which one would you pick that day? Well, just think of it as God did, GOD PICKED THE MOST BEAUTIFUL ROSE THAT DAY.
