Missing you on Memorial Day.
CJ
May 31, 2005
I know that you are with us each and every day. Law enforcement appreciation day was a huge success. It is always tough on Holly but, she always makes sure that you are remembered with the honor you deserve. Chad truly deserved your memorial award and everyone at the dinner could tell he was greatly honored.

Truly Good and decent men are hard to find, and the loss of even a one of them at the hands of a bad man is intolerable. The fight continues, so we press on. It was an honor to have made your acquaintance. Nemo me impune lacessit.

Well, I quess your moms with you now. I think about you often. I spoke to your brother today. I think its awful hard on him. I can see it in his eyes. Its makes me fill warm in my heart that you all are all together but man I miss you so and your mom and dad. When I would go by to visit she was always the same. The same hug, the same smile, the same love, just like you. You were one of the best. Say hey to Blake too. Im was proud to see him at Hudsons the week before. And I am still locking up some for you two. Love you, take care Chad

Billy,
Yesterday we buried Blake. I guess you two have found one another up there. I laughed today and said that at least Blake will have a new car and a radio that will get out no matter where he is in heaven. You would have been proud of Carroll County as they sent us people to keep the jail running so our people could all attend the funeral. They knew our pain.
I think about you often. I remember you telling me to carry my coffee mug in my left hand to keep my gun hand free. I pray I can be to others what you were to me. I wore your memorial bracelet to the funeral yesterday and it helped some. Tell Blake hello and we are trying to get back out on the road and get the job done. But, man, it sure is hard without you guys.
Love,

Billy, I so wish I could have talked with more. I needed a friend but was scared to share my feelings. I think you could have helped me through some really rough times.

Well it has been two years to the day since we were blessed with your presence at our office. Even though it has been two years it only seems like yesterday you were walking down the hall smiling and giggling about something. You set an example for us all to follow with high expectations, for us to alwalys be our best at everything we did and be proud of who we are. You taught us all to hold our head high, something good will come out of everything and to never give up.
We had our memorial today and dedicated the highway in front of the Sheriff's Office "Billy Jiles Memorial Highway".
YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!
You know even with two years behind me I still have a hard time dealing with your death, each and every day. Every time I think about that horible day and you being gone I just cry. I know I will never understand why but I ask myself that time after time, day after day.
I think about you or something you taught me each and ever day I work. Whether it be a scene I am on or radio traffic on the repeater.
Enough said just remember you are dearly missed.
Please watch over us while we perform our daily duties until we meet again one day.

As another day comes and goes here in Carroll County things still aren't getting any easier to accept that you are gone and not coming back. The old saying is "time will mend things and they will get easier". I catch myself wondering time after time "well how much time does it take". As I get up each and every day and start to get ready for work I think of you. I really enjoy working at the Sheriff's Office for Sheriff Langley, he is a great man to work for as if you didnt already know. I am sure you are looking down at us every day and I know you must be proud of the progress the Sheriff's Office has made and where we are at today. There is one thing about it though, we would not be where we are today if it was not for what you done while you were here with us. You set an example for a lot of us to follow with high expectations and I never plan to be any thing less. Everytime I take somebody through those doors at the jail I can see you smiling with that funny little laugh. I miss you but I will see you again one day.

Billy,
Our hearts are once again very heavy as we have had another rough day here at Carroll County Sheriff's Office. Today, we had to say good-bye to another one of our own, Sheriff Jack Bell. I know that you were waiting on the Sheriff as he came through the gates. You and the Sheriff were always close.
Sheriff Langley did an excellent job at the funeral today. You would be so proud of the department. Each member showed respect and honor.
Holly was there today. You could see the hurt she was feeling. She is strong and you would be so proud of her also.
Keep watching over us. We Love You.

Well it has been a little over a year and a half now and things still aren't any easier to except. At some point and during every days time I think of you and how you would handle things. Whether it is on a traffic stop, service call or serving a warrant their is not a day that goes by that you don't cross my mind. Just the other day while working at the scene of the little girls death the only good thing that I could think of at that point and time was that atleast she was now with of the greatest people I ever knew. I want you to know that we all miss you so very much and can't wait to see you again one day.
God Bless You!

Well it has been over a year now and it still does not seem real. Today is the day after Christmas and I was thinking about Holly and the kids. I know the holidays and anniversary dates will always be a struggle for us all but more especially for them. I just wanted to say Merry Christmas and we miss you. Billy I know each and every day that we put on this uniform and get ready for work you are there watching over us as an angel in the sky. There has many times during a days time when I do something at work that reminds me of things you taught me. I can't wait to see ya again one day. God Bless you Holly, Haleigh and Matthew. Keep being strong!
