As a former co-worker and academy police recruit with Mary- I can honestly say that I think about Mary and her family very often still. Mary's great sacrifice has had a profound impact on my life. I can remember that day like it was yesterday. I distinctly remember being at the Fifth District when the pursuit began and being on scene within minutes of this tragic event unfolding. Nothing has had a greater impact on me in my entire law enforcement career. Mary was a beautiful person and great mother. I salute her devoted husband, John, and his distinguished law enforcement career in the face of this horrible event. I hope and pray that your family is well and I know you are watching over us all now.

My first thouight of Mary was when she came on a ride along with me. John had expressed how she did not like that he was a police officer. I was honored that John had entrusted her to me to take care of her on that night. We had alot of fun and I think she really had a better outlook on what the job was all about. I was surprised when she became an officer but was very proud of her. She was a wonderful person with a great smile. I never got a chance to actually work with her once she was on the department, I wish I could have. I remember that sad day, I was in the third district working and heard the call. I rushed into the fifth district only to go on scene of this tragedy. Mary you were a great person and officer, I only wish I could have been there to protect you on that day as well. Rest in peace. John, love you man stay safe.

I was a police explorer when Mary was a rookie and rode-a-long with her several times during his first couple years. She had a very kind heart and was very generous. Mary was the first officer I personally knew that was shot and seriously wounded - I will never forget that day even though I was hundreds of miles away. It's been almost 13 years and I still remember her as if it were yesterday. I miss you Mary!

Officer Beall,
Its been a while since you have left this earth, but I think about your story all the time. I have used your story as encouragement and motivation over the past years, especially to help get me where I am now. I continue to pray for your family and friends each day that passes and know that you are looking down on all law enforcement officers everywhere.
Rest in peace Officer Beall; YOU are a true hero and inspiration for myself and to so many others!
