Reflections for Police Officer Ann Marie Guinta
Officer Guinta gave her life answering a call to help a stranger. May God watch over her daughter and fellow officers. I am reminded daily by the ODMP at how quickly our lives can be changed. Before I leave for duty I always kiss my wife good-bye and put my hand on my wifes belly and tell the baby good-bye as well.

Jacksonville Police Department (Alabama)
Ann,
From the moment we first met you've treated me like a little brother. You've touched not only my heart but the hearts of everyone you have come into contact with which still amazes me to this day. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think about you and the high standard that you set for yourself day to day when it came to doing your job and taking care of your son. Your attitude and personality, as well as your ultimate sacrifice has really made me proud to wear this uniform. Thank You for everything...........You Rest Now!

To the family, friends and colleagues of Officer Guinta, the International Association of Women Police extends our most sincere condolences on her tragic line-of-duty death. We salute Ann for putting on the uniform and going out to do the job every day. Though I did not know her, I am certain that she was a source of pride to her family and the county for which she worked.
I can only imagine the pain that her young son and the rest of her family is experiencing. You all will be in our prayers and in the prayers of a grateful nation that now knows how fragile the thin blue line has become. All of us in law enforcement must take from this event the knowledge that every situation has the potential to become a fight for one’s life. You'll now walk your beat on Heaven's streets. Godspeed Ann.

To the son of Officer Ann Guinta, please remember that your mother died a hero. That may not ease your pain at this time, but hold your head up with the utmost pride, and be proud of your mother. My heart goes out to you and everyone who knew her. God Bless all of you.
Officer S.C. Sales

I pray your son will always remember his mom and although I never met her, how obviously special to so many people. May God bless him and her family, friends and co-workers, and may he watch over all of us in law enforcement and keep us safe. I am sorry for your loss.

Leaving a reflection never seems to get easier. I just started getting on this page after a friend of mine was killed, and that took months. I realized how important it is to leave a reflection to let the friends, family members, and departments know that your loss is felt around the nation. Your memory will be forever engraved in our hearts, for you gave the ultimate sacrifice. Rest in peace knowing that your son has a hero for a mother and he will be well taken care of.
My heart goes out to all the friends and family members of Officer Guinta, she will never be forgotten. God Bless You all----

Ann,
It was a long and tedious duty my friend, but you carried out your assignments with the grace and dedication as one of the very best. Your tour of duty has come to an end now and the result is another ripple in the Thin Blue Line that reminds us all just how precious friends, family and life really are. You will be missed by us all.
May God wrap you in His loving arms and protect you forever more.

My condolences go out to the Guinta Family and The Dekalb County Sheriff's Office. RIP Ann, keep watch over everyone and lend that guiding touch or sense when someone needs it.

Ann was a very enthusiastic, energetic, conscientious officer who was a ray of joy and sunshine. She added life and high spirits everywhere she went. She loved motorcycles and was anxious to buy one so that she could go ride with me (she always commented on how cool my riding clothes were). I'll miss her, but I will take comfort in knowing that she is now going on motorcycle rides that are far more beautiful than I will see in this life. Love ya Ann!

So sorry to hear about Officer Guinta's death. My prayers are with her family, friends & co-workers for the days ahead of you will be filled with pain, anger and sorrow. Try to let the wonderful memories you share get you through this. Feel free to share your emotions with others; you can't go through it alone. Please remember her little boy and be there for him....not just in the months to come but forever. Share the memories you have of his mom with him so that he can know her from your perspective. I just heard a pastor say that it takes at least a year for someone to begin to heal from a tragedy such as this; I believe this because I'm still healing myself. Officer Guinta, if you happen to meet Trooper Calvin Taylor (he's been patrolling the streets of heaven since October 2001) tell him I still love him & give him a hug for me. Take care of each other & stay safe.

Ann, we miss you so much, for you were always so full of life. Your upbeat personality was just a glimmer of your inner strength shining through. That your last act was rushing to back a fellow officer on a fight call surprises no one who had the honor of serving beside you. We cherish our memories of you, and promise that your son will not be forgotten.

My heart breaks for you,
My wife and I lost our youngest daughter (24) in a very similar situation on May 4th of this year. I so much wish that I had some magic words to help you through this tragic situation, but there are none. You all have some very tough days ahead of you. Just know that its OK to be angry and its Ok to be mad at the world, you have every right. In time you will realize that 34 year on this earth as a class act is better then 90 years as a slug. Please just know that your not alone, there are alot of good people out there that truely care.

Ann, thanks for your years of service to your community, state and nation. The blue line just got thinner. You will always be remembered not only by your comrades in blue, but also by other "survivors" who have lost their officer in the line of duty. May God bless and watch over your son and family. Thanks to all our former and present officers for the great work they do in protecting the citizens of this great nation.

The Lord has not always promised us sunshine, but He has promised to never leave us or forsake us. There are valleys and mountains and the 20th of July was one of those valley experiences for us all.
May the Lord put his loving arms around your son, family, friends and co-workers and may they feel His comfort at this time.
