Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer Ann Marie Guinta

I never had a chance to meet you Officer Guinta but I wished I had. The front lines become a little more shallow each time another brother or sister is called to higher service by our Lord. I want to thank you for your service to the metro area and for protecting the citizens of Dekalb County. I think it is hard for another person to look in from the outside and know exactly what it is like to fill the shoes of a peace officer. You and I along with our other brothers and sisters know we do it because we feel called to serve in some capacity and we often do it while putting out service before our family, friends, and other things that are nearly as important. Officer Guinta for your service at this stop over I hope you have many rewards in the heavens above. May your friends and family be comforted by the fact that you have been spoken of so well by so many and may all your brothers and sisters be comforted by the many fond memories you made with them while serving. God speed to you. Please keep a watchful eye over the rest of us as we carry on with our duties a little thinner as we stand the line. May God Bless your son and grant him an easy path in life with many blessings.

A Police Officers Prayer: Lord, I ask for courage, Courage to face and conquer my own fears... Courage to take me where others will not go. And please, Lord, through it all, be at my side... (unknown author).
Ann, may you be the angel that gives us strength. You will be dearly missed.

I'll never forget working with such a happy person....I miss you badly, and only wish I could have said goodbye...

For the short time that I knew Officer Guinta, it was a great experience, she was one of the most nicest persons I have ever met. Even though I only met her a few times and talk with her I will never forget her smile and how kind and nice she was to me...She will not be forgotten.

God Bless you.

"Final Inspection"

The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges
can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.

There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."

I have known Ann for 4 yrs now and everytime I have seen her both at work or on our off time just hanging out she always smiled. Over the years I have fought many battles and Ann was always beside me to cheer me up and tell me not to worry, "life is to short to sweat the small things".
Ann, you will be missed very much and our loss will be felt for a long time to come.
We all know that you are in a far better place but it still hurts for you to be gone at such a young age.
May God bless your family and the little one.
Always in my thought's and prayers.

Your Friend,
Missy

We will remember Ann as a carefree, loving person who always had a smile on her face. Who in her job was respected and who knew when to take action. You will be missed in our family at Dekalb and in our hearts as a true friend.
May God Bless you and hold you in his loving arms.

Like I normally say, thank you, for going out to protect us from violence, everyday. I go out and do the same, and I know how bad the violence can be everyday. At least you were brave, and strong enough to go and and do the best that you could ever do. 5 years is very long many people may think, at least 5 days a week, 8 hours a day, that's a very very long time. If only people would start understanding that. My prayers go out to you and your family and even your son, who might really need a mother one day. You did something people wouldn't understand. Well I could keep going on, but I rather not, because when your family reads this it just might bring more tears to their eyes. Well, great job by going out everyday and doing the best you can. Well now its time for me to take the beat, and hope I make it to see another day.

Ann,
Not one day did I ever see you without a smile. I use to look forward to shift change just so we could shoot the breeze about life. I took our friendship for granted. I thought you would always be there. It took this to make me realize that you were a true friend. It took this to remind me that tomorrow is not promised and that we should take the time, however little it is, to enjoy the company of those we love. You will always be in the thoughts of us all. My only wish is that you left us knowing that you were loved by so many. Ann, I miss you.
