Reflections for Corporal Kenneth Jeffrey Johnson

My thoughts and prayers go out to Corporal Kenneth Johnson's family, friends and co-workers. You are not alone in your grief and pain. You have your family of law enforcement here to pray for you. Psalm 55:22

Denise Nichols
Wife of Alabama State Trooper Brian K. Nichols EOW 02/17/2002

When shall the needless loss of life end? This year South Carolina and the LEO communities have lost to count three officers starting with deputies D.J. Coursen, and officer Tate on January 8th and now a state trooper. Law enforcement is one of the of the most thankless yet so many enter it, not for the money or the gratitude from those they have helped. However, it goes with out saying that the job they do takes a special breed of person. A commitment by not only the officer but their families as well. It is with these families we rest our prayers when their loved one has been called to serve duty with God and as such their mission ends here but their legacy shall live on in the hearts and souls of all who knew them and worked in the field of Public Safety.

May you rest in peace and know you were loved and will always be loved. Go with God on the wings that guided you upon the journey you took here upon our earth.

Todd Maschino

Only those who have dedicated themselves to the profession of law enforcement truly realize the cost of a free and safe nation, for it is only those brave few who pay the price.

Sometimes I just sit here and pray for the families, friends, and co-workers, knowing what the coming months hold...the final call, the flag draped coffin, taps, amazing grace on bagpipes, the folded flag to the widow...we can never know what God's plans are for us, and it becomes increasingly difficult to see so many give up their lives to protect others. Our only consolation lies in the fact that on final judgement day those responsible will pay through eternity. Corporal Johnson, thank you for your service, and know that your family will be taken care of by your brothers and sisters in the law enforcement community. To his family, I hope you find comfort in knowing people are praying for you,and that he will always be a hero...

I am greatly saddened at hearing the news of Cpl. Johnson's death.

I did have some contact with Johnson while working with the Sheriff's Office in Clarendon County. He was very friendly and I'm sure he was a great asset to his agency.

His presence will be sorely missed.

J. R. Ponti
South Carolina State Constable

It's a shame that a police officer is killed when they are trying to make the roads a safer place for us. My sincere condolences are sent out to Kenneth's family and friends.

Dear Corporal Johnson,

It's devastating to see that we've lost another young law enforcement officer so swiftly and senselessly. We pray for your family, friends, colleagues, and community, for we know all too well what they now face. May they take comfort in knowing that you now patrol Heaven's streets with many of God's finest, and that nothing and no one can ever harm you again. We thank you for your years of dedicated service here on earth, and may you rest peacefully in the presence of God forevermore.

With sadness and appreciation,

Susan & Louis Prater
Nicholasville (Jessamine Co.) KY

Today the citizens of South Carolina lost a fine Trooper, a Trooper who led by example. Today, I lost a friend. I graduated patrol school with "KJ". In the beginning we became friends and in the end we became brothers. Several months ago, I was able to speak with KJ. He spoke of his love for his family and his love for the Patrol. To the family and friends of Trooper Johnson, we as a State share your sorrow. He shall be greatly missed by us all. May god bless your family and especially your children. To us all, KJ is a HERO.

May all of our prayers go out to Cpl. Johnson's friends and especially his family. The SCHP is one of the greatest agencies in the state of South Carolina, and probably has the most guts out of any agency also to do what they do. My sincerest condolonces go out to his family....and may the coward who did this pay severely!!!!

Family, Friends and Co-Workers of Corporal Johnson,
The road to greiving is long and unwritten. No one can tell you what is the right way or the wrong way to express the so many emotions that you are feeling. Do what feels right in your heart and no one can lay blame. Your Kenneth may be gone from patrolling the streets of earth, but he is with our James and they are patrolling the golden streets of heaven.
