I am praying for the family of Deputy Sheriff Tarsia. I am not in law enforcement but was married to a police officer. I am shocked/saddened to find out that there is an "honor block" in prison, and that murderers can cook in their cells, and that the employees eat with prisoners, etc. Clearly, in the name of Deputy Tarsia, I am hopeful that correctional reforms take place across the board and that all who knew or participated in this massive security breakdown at Clinton Correctional are dealt with to the fullest extent of the law. May God Bless Deputy Sheriff Tarsia and his family.

If there is any position in the world I see as the highest honor, that is a police officer or deputy. I don't care how many Ivy leauge schools a student get accepted to, I view going through academy and serving in law enforcement as the most prestigious position a woman or man could have. Thank you Deputy Tarsia.

The Fallen Lawman by Richard J. May

A lonely bagpipe tells the tale
As friends and family softly wail
The folded flag upon his chest
The fallen lawman laid to rest

Taken in the prime of life
He leaves two children and a wife
He served us proudly, not in vain
He knew our troubles and our pain

For those abused, lost or distressed
Against all odds, he did his best
Sworn to serve all and protect
He’s earned our ultimate respect

His name now added to the rolls
Of martyrs past, of tragic souls
A small black band around the shield…
His legacy to those afield

Praising words, deserving prayer
A tearful eye for those who care
But lest his passing be for naught
Remember valued lessons taught

For though he died so tragically
While serving brave and selflessly
One final prayer we glorify…
“God, let him be the last to die.”
