Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Shane Ronald Bennett
An Angel
An angel that was taken away,
but we know he sees a better day.
Although he may not be around,
we know he's in heavin lookin down.
A wonderful man so you can see why god took him,
but for us all we know is the light is dim.
Someone we cared too much to let go,
but don't think because he's in heaven he doesn't know.
He will always be there,
he will always care.
To say he is no longer I wouldn't dare.
God needed an angel to fly with him,
someone he knew would go out on a limb.
As the days go by,
and we still ask why,
The pain gets stronger, but hold on longer.
because we know God got an Angel.
Daughter of a Deputy
Blessed are the pease makers, for they shall be called the sons of god.
May you rest in peace. Your family will be taken care of, they are certainly in my thoughts and prayers.
Thank you for your sacrifice.

Teresa & Alyssa (I probably didn't spell that right)
I know your pain, I know your sorrow, I know it oh too well! But I also know that one day we will make it through all that pain and sorrow, because we have God on our team assisting us all the way. And I know that our husbands are with God now, planning and preparing for us to come be with them as soon as we are done down here. I know Shane died doing what he loved doing (We definately dont do it for the money!)I have heard so many great things about Shane, tho I didnt know him myself, I feel like I know what type of man he was by what type of life he lived, and it appears to me that you and Alyssa were the twinkles in his eyes that everyone keeps telling me about.
Just remember you are never alone in all this, that you have not only your family but now your extended family to help you along the way. You can call on me any time, day or night to talk to, to cry with, or whatever you feel like doing at that time. Thats what friends are for, and that is what God has made us (the wives of officers in this area who have made the ultimate sacrifice), a network of friends. Call on us in your time of need, and we will be there!

Several years ago a breath of fresh air blew through District 2, it was Shane Bennett. He is the only person that I have ever met that I was glad to see every time I saw him. My friend, I am sure that you are in a better place and look forward to seeing you one day. Keep the calls caught up, help is on the way.

Dear Baby Bennett,
It probably wont matter to you that your Daddy died a hero, only that you can no longer see him. In the days, weeks, and years to come, you will be able to get to know him through the services he gave to others. His will still shine through you. He will always be there for you, though you may not see him or even feel him at times. If you need him, he will be at your side. I pray that God will watch over your Daddy as he watches over you. Remember that loves never dies and families are forever. From one Daddy's Girl to another.

To The Family of Ronald Bennett
My heart goes out to you. We recently had a loss in our family and it was devasting to us all. We are a large family of 10 brothers and sisters my brother was number 9 and I am number 10. We use to go by numbers to let everyone know the age differences. I've always known that he had joined another family bigger than ours....for you see they all watch each other. It was very comforting to me to know that all the family in blue come together. You have to know that Ronald and my brother are watching over us from up above. They have completed their journey here on earth and their good deeds have been rewarded. They each have given their lives to save someone else's unselfishly. My prayers continue for you and your family

My thougts and prayers are with the family of Officer Shane Bennett. I went to high school with Shane and I remember that he always had a smile on his face and was just a great person to be around. He made everyone's life he came into contact with brighter. There's a saying that "Only the good die young" and Shane was truly the best of the best. Rest in peace Shane and God rest your soul.

To the family & friends of Deputy Sheriff Shane Ronald Bennett,
The thoughts of police officers the world over are with you during this difficult period. Please know that your loved one gave his life doing a job made so necessary in these troubled times, serving others before himself.
With love,
Fellow officer.

I had the honor of riding second man with Shane. In my opinion Shane was one of the best if not the best patrol deputy District 2 had. I have to say that I have learned so much from Shane about being a patrol deputy and this tragedy is a terrible loss for the department. I just think about the times I rode with Shane and he would always show me the most recent pictures of his new daughter and how proud he was of her.
I have always looked up to Shane for the kindness he always showed and the passion he had for the job that he did. I just hope I will be half the deputy Shane Bennett was.
My deepest regards go to the Bennett family and to his daughter who will grow up never knowing what kind of hero her father really is.
Sincerely,
Deputy Jason Dean
