This young man was my brother in law. More like my little brother I met him when he was 13 years of age. He grew up to become a fine young man and followed what is in all his families blood and that's was law enforcement. He became an officer that all could be proud of but God took him from us early he had other plans for David. I miss our talks and laughs we use to have, I look forward to seeing you once again on heaven s streets of gold. RIP Corporal David Eugene King

I couldn't understand why I've been in this funk lately....you've been on my mind soooo much. And the I seen Jody Wynn and I knew. I always get this way during the summer cause that's when you left us. I miss you all the time and of course I always wonder about the man you'd be today. I loved you then and I love you now, just wish I would've had the courage to tell you then when it mattered.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 10th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

I pray for solace for all those that love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever. Your family is in my heart's embrace. Thanks to your family and friends for sharing their memories and devotion to you through their reflections.

Rest In Peace.

Spunky, I guess by now you know Luke is following the family tradition. It had to happen with Pappa's influence. Watch over him for Wylie and Cammie. Wish the three of us could make one more trip to the deere lease. Your Brother.

P.S. u may have to use my hooks when he"s driven.

David, It's been 6 years since you left and not a day goes by that we don't think about you. You touched so many people in your life and you will never be forgotten. We miss you deeply, but know that you and Kyler will take care of each other until we can be with you. You were a great "little brother" and I knew that you always had my back.

Almost a year ago my daughter Beaumont PD Officer Lisa Beaulieu was killed in the line of duty. As I was going through some of her things I found the service brochure from Corporal King's burial service. I just wanted you to know that he was not forgotten by a fellow officer who has now joined him.

"The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

David though I'm sure you know but I just wanted to say I still love you, miss you and think about you every day. There is a big part of me missing without you here but I am blessed to know that you watching over and protecting me from up above. You and I could argue but man did we have some good times as well. I truly loved you, still do and always will. I will never forget the night Christine called me to tell me what happened... My life will never be the same. I love you always and forever!!!!!

It's going on 5 yrs now, and I still believe that it is just hard for the old crew to accept one of their own is not here. We all shared some great times. Everyone still tells their stories like they happened just yesterday. Your still missed my friend. You left an everlasting impression on everyone...
