Thanks to everyone who has offered their condolences for Frankie's friends and family. I had the opportunity to work with Frankie from the start of his employment with the sheriff's office until my departure in Dec. 2001. Anyone who knew him will agree that he was an outstanding officer and had a heart of gold. The picture of Frankie on this site is the way he was always seen, a smile on his face. I cannot say enough about him. Please continue to pray for his family and co-workers. He was a devoted Christian and family man and gave his best to anyone who came in contact with him. He was considered a dear friend, and will be greatly missed by all of us.

So sorry to hear about Deputy Betteron's death. We just drove through Pittsylvania County this week travelling to/from Police Week. My thoughts & prayers are with family, friends & co-workers. May God give you strength, courage & comfort and may he help the coward who did this be caught.

Have we not already given enough blood...enough blood...for all of time?

Are we part of your plan...will the picture someday be clear?

Do you realize until that happens...our loved ones must look in the mirror?

My heart goes out to Mrs. Betterton, I can't truly understand your suffering. I do know that the cause for which Deputy Betterton died is a nobel one, and one that has a great reward in the life to follow.
It pains me to hear of another brother in blue who has fallen by the rage of another. The only comfort I can offer is to tell you that he will be with you were ever you go.
I lost a friend and brother in August of '01, and I feel his presence continually. To have paid the ultimate price will have it's rewards.
