Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Special Deputy Kay Carolyn Gregory

5 years ago today you gave your life in service to others.
Time has not diminished your memory or sacrifice.

Weak and wounded sinner
Lost and left to die
O, raise your head, for love is passing by
Come to Jesus
Come to Jesus
Come to Jesus and live!
Now your burden's lifted
And carried far away
And precious blood has washed away the stain, so
Sing to Jesus
Sing to Jesus
Sing to Jesus and live!
And like a newborn baby
Don't be afraid to crawl
And remember when you walk
Sometimes we fall...so
Fall on Jesus
Fall on Jesus
Fall on Jesus and live!
Sometimes the way is lonely
And steep and filled with pain
So if your sky is dark and pours the rain, then
Cry to Jesus
Cry to Jesus
Cry to Jesus and live!
O, and when the love spills over
And music fills the night
And when you can't contain your joy inside, then
Dance for Jesus
Dance for Jesus
Dance for Jesus and live!
And with your final heartbeat
Kiss the world goodbye
Then go in peace, and laugh on Glory's side, and
Fly to Jesus
Fly to Jesus
Fly to Jesus and live!

My sincerest condolences go out to the family of Deputy Kay Carolyn Gregory. I remember that day all too well as I was working a second job as a security manager on Virgina Ave., just less than one block from the accident site. I remember that an insurance employee was upset that police had to divert traffic, causing him to be late. I never met Deputy Gregory, but honor demanded at that point that this gentleman needed to be corrected. How truly selfish some people are when the death of any person, especially that of a law enforcement officer means nothing more than an inconvenience to them. I reminded him in my own way that that could have easily have been him out there, and I wonder then if he had survived how he would have felt if we thought it an "inconvenience" that we had to be diverted. He and some others that day got the point. Deputy Gregory served long and well the people of this community. She obviously had a deep passion and respect for her profession. I've been in my profession 26 years now, I know how she must've felt. She was a tested officer with 33 years of irreplaceable experience. Her life as a cop alone would've been a joy in itself to read. I too came from the days of revolvers, radios with no shoulder mikes, and the old PR-24. Know that there is great people out there who decide to make law enforcement their career. Deputy Gregory did, and we are the better for it. Rest well sister, you have truly earned your reward in heaven.

Our prayers and thoughts to the family and friends of Deputy Gregory.

She started her career ten years before me. At a time when law enforcement was all hands-on. No computers or MDT's. No air conditioning in your squads. Handhelds if you were lucky. Straight-sticks and revolvers. All this at a time when coppers were commonly known as "pigs."

I owe this lady a special thank you. Rest in peace my sister. You've done more than your share and I salute you.

REST IN PEACE MY FALLEN SISTER,FOR WE WILL CONTINUE THE FIGHT FOR YOU. GO NOW AND SIT IN GODS ARMY AND WATCH OVER ALL OF THE BROTHERS AND SISTERS WHO CONTINUE THIS BATTLE.

I would love to read the book Deputy Gregory could've written after 33 years in our profession, which has it's lighter mmoments. To her family, friends, and co-workers, know that she now rests in the company of heavens finest, patrolling streets of gold. Your pain will be daily, but hopefully her memories will keep you smiling. May God bless you all...Isaiah 40:31

We are so very sorry for the loss of your loved one. We want you to know that her service and her spirit will not be forgotten. You are all in our thoughts and prayers as we know this is a very difficult time. The days ahead are very hard but you will find strengths you did not know you had and support from others will help lift you up. We have walked down a similar path, our loved one too was kiled when someone ran a red light. Though it seems right now like you will never get through this we know that you will and if we can help you to do so please let us. Each day is an effort but your courage will abound and with that you will honor Kay everyday. Thank you for sharing her with your community.
