Reflections for Police Officer Julie Rochelle Jacks

To the family, friends, and fellow officers

I wish to express my deepest sympathy to you. I can honestly tell you that I share in your grief having just lost a dear friend and police officer in December of this past year when she was hit by a vehicle while working a traffic accident. She was one of my best friends and it still hurts to know that she is gone and no longer will I hear her voice on the radio. The one thing I have learned from this is that I must go on and that this is what she would have wanted because of her love for the job I need to continue doing mine. I hope that you will continue on and carry her memory with you, she may not be here in body but she is with you in spirit and I'm more than positive that she would want you all to carry on and give your all as she did on this tragic day. She obviously prided herself in giving her all having made Rookie of the Year for 2001. It's officers like her that make me proud to do my job! God bless Officer Julie Jacks and all who knew her.

Deepest Sympathy,

Little Sister,

You came after I had moved on. I never had the honor of knowing you in this life, but I know many of the good men and women that I served with thought very highly of you. There is no greater honor than to have the love and respect of your brothers and sisters at arms. I will see you the next time around. Until then...watch over us...we still need you.

As we lay another brave warrior to rest It brings back the sad and painful memories of the day we walked the same path. There are no words to be said that can ease the pain. Even as you find the years starting to come and go your heart will always be a safe haven for the memories can never be taken from you and the love will never die. We miss our soldier in blue as much today as ever before but we know he had a job to do and gave it all for all of us. To all who walks this path God be with you. ......... Dennis Dockery ............

God Bless you for the service you gave. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Rest easy sister.

I KNEW JULIE FOR THE SIX YEARS WE ATTENDED OOLTEWAH MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL TOGETHER. IT HAS BEEN OVER A YEAR SINCE I RAN INTO HER AND CHATTED BRIEFLY WITH HER. SHE HAD NOT CHANGED A BIT. SHE WAS THE SAME FRIENDLY, CARING, AND HONEST PERSON I KNEW 8 YEARS AGO. TO THE OTHER 3 AMIGOS---YOU HAVE LOST SOMEONE VERY SPECIAL, BUT ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT YOU WERE BLESSED BY HER IN YOUR LIVES FOR 20 YEARS. SOME PEOPLE GO THEIR ENTIRE LIVES WITHOUT EVER HAVING A FRIEND LIKE HER. SHE WILL TRULY BE MISSED, AND WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED. CONDOLENCES TO HER FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

"A Part of America Died"
Somebody killed a policeman today,
and a part of America died.
A piece of our country she swore to protect,
will be buried with her at her side.
The suspect that shot her will stand up in court,
with counsel demanding his rights.
While a young soon to be husband must work,
and spend many long, lonely nights.
The beat that she walked was a battle field too,
just as if she'd gone off to war.
Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half mast,
to her name they will add a gold star.
Yes, somebody killed a policeman today,
It was in your hometown and mine.
While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors,
a cop put her life on the line.
Now her ghost walks a beat on a dark city street,
and she stands at each new rookie's side.
She answered the call, of herself gave her all,
And A Part Of America Died.

Another hero snatched from us in the prime of life, it seems so sensless, I know Billy (JCSO EOW 11-13-01) greeted her at the gates of heaven and is giving her all the necessary particulars, being the detail person he was. I come to this site every day, and pray that no other names will be added, and at the same time knowing that as long as evil exists, there will be new names... To her family, friends and fellow officers, may God hold your hearts in His loving hands while you begin the healing process, she is patrolling streets of gold with God's finest, Rest in Peace Julie, you will never be forgotten...

My heart just ached when I read of the senseless death of this young police officer. The first thought that ran through my mind is the heartache and pain that Officer Jack's parents are feeling at this very moment. It is a pain caused by grief and there is no medication that can be prescribed by human doctors for healing. My prayers are with them, her sisters, and her fiance. I am so sorry they are having to go through this.

The Chattanooga Police Department has lost one of the best. Officer Jacks was one of those officers that you looked forward to seeing her come through the doors to the Property/Evidence section. It was a pleasure to have known her and worked with her. She will always be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with Officer Jacks, her fiancee, Officer Bobby Moses, her family and friends, and all of her Brothers and Sisters in blue that worked with her on the streets of Chattanooga. Julie will never be forgotten.

Julie was a fine outstanding police officer. I got to know her really well through working with security. She started on with the police department right after I started on with security. She came on many of the calls that we had to campus. After seeing her on the beat for the last couple of years and seeing the courage that she built up inside her. I know that she fought hard until the very end. This is a sad day for the city of Chattanooga. She was a true dedicated cop and took pride in her job. Though a rookie you would have thought she had been on the force many years. She was such a dedicated professional in every single call she took. One of the finest officers of the Chattanooga Police Department that I have ever met. She has now answered her last call, The call to go home to heaven. She took that call with all she had a gave her very best. God Bless you my friend may you rest in peace.

Grown men crying like babies lost in the night
Our only relief is to cry
Our love
Our pain
Our loss
Nothing can bring you back
Sorrow causes my heart to flutter like a frightened bird
Angushing in a sea of despair, mourning for your presence
Your job was to protect us from evil
All the armor on earth can't shield us from a broken heart

I heard the news & was in disbelief. I asked myself why in the hell did this happen to such a good officer, person & friend. I cannot understand the answers to that, except one. I was told many years ago by my grandmother: The reason God has chosen her is simple, she was a positive influence on others, this horrible event that occured May 6th will make the rest of us stop, reflect & hopefully realize the importance we have to each other & others. If God takes the bad ones, we would simply turn away & think that they deserved it somehow. This is not the case by any means here. Julie had touched so many peoples lifes for the better, that was apparent at the funeral home today & everywhere you could possibly turn. The neighborhood children had their own vigil for her this evening, many of which had not even met her, but felt the loss just the same. I hope that others can see how important our lives are to each other, how we can have a positive or negative influence in others lives. It's up to us as individuals to decide how we want to influence others. I personally want to stop taking others for granted, become more focused on the right things God has given us. I hope that this tragedy will have the same affect on others...
May God bless you Julie & thank you for everything you did for our community. You will be truly missed!
