I am a long time resident of Los Angeles county and it bears deep into my heart the loss of a fellow brother in law enforcement. I have many friends that are employed as deputy sheriffs for los angeles county. They however told me the sad news after the incident occured, but I know that his loss and the loss of many brothers does not die in vain.

I am sorry for you loss. I myself lost a real good friend who was an officer not too long ago. I did not know this man but I do know that he died a hero. And I pray for healing on all who knew him. I also pray for the safety of all of you who serve and protect.

I just saw the coverage that America's Most Wanted did on the tragic events that ended your life. Even after working in law enforcement for about 16 years, I still wonder how people can be so heartless. I share your sorrow & know the pain you are going through.....I lost the man I had been married to for 8 years as well as dispatched for. I will be attending National Police Week next week & will think about Officer March and his family & friends. You never think you will have so many people across the country that you have one thing in common with.....losing a police officer that is close to you. May God be with Officer March's family & friends & may they know that he is walking the golden streets of heaven now.

Although I did not know Dep. March personally, it is always sad when an officer is killed. Our station has been hit especially hard these last months, and I know many of Dep. March's co-workers and friends are grieving deeply. My condolences to all of them.

What can I say - The anger I feel is difficult to put into words.

I am a reserve officer from the UK, we don't have anything like the amount of guns or gun related crime here that you do in the states.
We never knew each other, and the closest I ever got to experiencing the job you guys do is watching COPS on the TV.

All traffic stops are frought with danger, here its mostly from knives or the car itself.

But, Ive been on holiday to the states, talked to officers like yourself who have ALWAYS made me feel welcome, and suggested L.E stores to visit (you know what we're like for Kit!)

When I read this, when I saw your photo, I thought, no way, this is a man who did what we all do, fulltime, everyday!!

How I wish more people could see what we see.

For that you and all who do what you do have my admiration and thanks.

For me, part time is enough - Although if I could I would gladly come and work full time to help find the individual that did this to you.

To your family, remember the good times, remember the fun and remember the man - he will never leave your side!

You're a true hero David, watch over us all - wherever we are.

Rest in Peace.

You are now patrolling the streets with St Michael. May God give your family, friends, and co-workers the strength to carry on.

Sgt Kevin McGowan
Charleston Police Department

God Bless you Deputy Sheriff March, you did your job and for that someone took your life, may that person never know peace. May God hold you in the palm of His Hand and comfort your family in their time of need. As one who deals with motor vehicle stops as a routine part of the job I know how dangerous your work was, but you stood tall and did it anyway, may you rest in peace.

David's funeral was very moving and emotional. It was clear that not only was this man dedicated to giving top-notch service, but to being a trusting, honest, caring, and thoughtful officer, husband, and father. He truly was a good cop. He also new how to enjoy life and was faithful to his God and church.

I know the family will miss him tremendously, but I hope they remember the good he did while doing his job daily. As was said, he's walking a beat in heaven now.

GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. YOU ARE IN A MUCH BETTER PLACE NOW. LOOK DOWN ON US FROM TIME TO TIME AND KEEP US SAFE. UNTIL ME MEET AGAIN BROTHER.

Today we bury a fellow Deputy. GODSPEED.

Tribute To David March

We lost another one of the good guys today. His name was David March.

He had only served as a deputy sheriff for seven years, but GOD called

him away for a better reason and we must all live with that. He died

in the line of duty, doing his best for all of us. The words we try

to choose to explain such a tragedy that befell David, his family, and

all the law enforcement community, are hard to come by. The

explanation is difficult because even though we reach down deep inside

ourselves to understand what it is like to devote your life to being

the best there is, as was the case with David, we come up empty. We

come up empty because we never get used to losing one of our own, and we never should.

We are angry, we feel helpless, and we mourn his loss. Yes, we grieve

even if we didn't know David personally because we know what he stood

for, someone who served the community well and who deserved better

than have his life taken from him at such an early age. Those of us

who wore the colors that David wore so proudly during his brief

career, look back and remember others that also gave their lives in

the line of duty. Some of them we knew, but every time one of our

fallen heroes lost his life, we knew it was one too many, as it always

is, and so it is today with the loss of David.

You never get used to losing someone like David, you never will, and

you never should. No matter how many years you served in a law

enforcement capacity yourself, or how long it has been since you took

off that badge and put it into retirement, you always have a vested

interest in those who follow in your footsteps. We are a proud lot,

all of us, in every agency that serves its citizens, and we cherish

those who dedicated their lives to doing their duty. We feel we have

lost our very own partner when something like this happens to someone

who took our place and served so gallantly. We never lose that feeling.

Put out your flag tomorrow morning and fly it at half staff in honor

of the memory of David March. Yes, you know him because he represents

all the good there is in this world and his memory will linger on in

the rest of those who take up the cause on his behalf. We salute you

David, may you rest in peace, and may we remember you always. You served us well.....
