Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Deputy Sheriff David William March

I just walked into the other room and my husband had his copy of American Police Beat open to an article entitled "We don't forgive, forget, or give up." This caught my eye, so I continued to read the article and wanted to let you know that I am so happy that Dep. March's killer has been found and will be made to face the American system of justice. Although there is still a long road ahead, waiting for extradition and then the trial, I hope that his family will be able to find some peace knowing that this man will never bring such anguish to anyone ever again. God bless you all and give you strength to make it through the next stage on this long, hard journey.

Dep. March, you will always be remembered as a hero. Thank you for your dedication and sacrifice.

Honey, we never stopped fighting for justice in your honor. Your smile and spirit has kept us focused to the beautiful life ripped away from us. We knew you deserved better than this horrific outcome. (Killer at Large) You touched our hearts through your life, and through your death. I'm so honored you chose me to share your life with. I will always have fond memories and such admiration for you. I will always be proud of the man you were. On Thursday, Feb 23, 2006 we learned Garcia was CAPTURED and will now have to pay for taking you out our life. We have a journey ahead, but we have waited for so long for this next step. Ultimately God will have the final vengeance. I will love and miss you for the rest of my life. Until I see you again, Your Wife, Teri

I never got the chance to meet you Dave, but I know others who have. It was truly a great day Friday when the coward who took your life was finally arrested. Everytime I would look at the wated person flyer of that scum, I would say to myself one day he will face justice for his cowardly act that took the life of a husband, father, son, and hero. Well that day has come now may your family have some sense of closure and justice.

May you now rest in peace HERO and may you watch over your wife and parents, they fought hard to make the caputure of your killer finally a reality.

Deputy March--I just heard the great news. I have been following your story since I heard about your tragic murder at the hands of a coward. Last summer Denver P.D. Detective Donnie Young was also murdered by a Mexican National who fled the country to find safe haven in Mexico. Colorado Senator Bob Boupret (sp?) was instrumental in getting the legislation changed so that cop killers who run back to Mexicao will no longer have a place to hide. Garcia's in custody and will face justice--American justice! You are a true hero. God bless you and your family. The heartfelt condolences of the Park County Sheriff's Office go out to your family and the brave men and women of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. Rest in peace, brother.

Just heard the great news on the news this morning that he was arrested! It is obvious no one gave up on finding your killer and that is so awesome! Thank you to the Mexican authorities who assisted in the capture. I hope this sends out a message to all the other cowards who flee to Mexico that they will be found and brought back to face their punishment.

David, it's about 4 years now since your Murder.
You and Teri really affected my Nephew, he is turning in his background papers for our Department this month.
Your Murder made him so "outraged" and he realized he needed to follow us with our mission.
Rest in Peace David.

I'll be on Live Oak 4/29.

David was a sweet and handsome man. He was a good friend, a good son and a good Sheriff's Deputy. He would come to our house, and we would have a great times. I loved him very much. He always had a smile on his face. I watched him play football and baseball. I miss him very much.

Dave,

Every day I drive to work I pass the memorial 0n-ramp bearing your name, so I think about you all the time. That said, it doesn't take that on-ramp to spark wonderful memories of you. You were a great man and it was easy to like you. You were very humble and always quick to smile. Reflecting on my softball glory days (man I'm getting old) I remember many great conversations we had on numerous topics.

I am glad you found the Lord prior to your leaving us. I know you are much better off than we are. Rest in peace my good friend. I look forward to seeing you again some day.

Hopefully, the Trojans will bring home #3 in a row here and we can toast them in your name!

Dave,
It has been a long time. There is not a day that goes by that I do not remember you and the good times. I wish that you were still around to talk Trojan Football. Three Heismans and two National Championships would be a lot to talk about. It has been quite a ride for USC. I know you're in a better place, but we all still miss you. Your friendship will be remembered for a lifetime. My license plate will read your Temple Car No. 57 for as long as they let me drive. You are a hero and you will NEVER be forgotten!

Dave,

Thank you again for what you have sacrificed for the people of Los Angeles County. It is only a matter of time before the animal who hurt you is apprehended and punished to the fullest extent of the law. Teri's hard work is something you would have been very proud of. She is a very strong and determined woman. God bless you Dave.

I remember the day you died. I got a phone call at home. Heather was coming over so our kids could play and I was the one to tell her. Then she called Tom at work. Tom has your unit number on his POV. When we pass by your park on Plum Canyon, I tell my kids about you and how incredibly brave you were. You will always be in our hearts and the pictures I have of all of us at Tom and Heather's wedding I will cherish always. Your wife is a warrior...you would be so proud.....

Deputy March -

It was a my day off. I could see the helicopters, overhead, from my back yard a couple of miles away. When they stayed for so long I turned on the TV news and saw the scene. What a tragedy.

The next day, I took my 18 year-old son to the nearby market. We purchased a dozen roses. When the clerk heard where we were headed, she 'sweetened' our order. We left the roses where you fell. We were not the first to do so. I was impressed by the makeshift shrine created in your honor. A few days later, I attended your graveside service. The hillside was filled with men and women in uniform.

My condolences to your family. I have prayed for their burden to be lessened.
Your loss was felt by many who had probably never even met you. I thank you for your service to my home community. Rest well. We will not forget you.

Hey there Dave, well Im living in the Dallas area and tomorrow I will be attending the services of Fallen Dallas Officer Brian Jackson. He was so young just like you and had only been married a short time. Once again it was an illegal alien, but fortunatley he was captured and will be charged with Capital Murder. I pray for justice for you and your family. I wear my bracelet and inform people about you and your sensless murder all the time. Hopefully someday all Terri's persistance will prevail....God Bless you and miss you! p.s. I'm going to go watch USC kick some UCLA butt and think of you

Dave,
I had the opportunity to meet Teri and her love for you burns as strong as ever. It's obvious that all she does she does to honor you and I believe you would be proud of her. Please continue to keep watch over her and protect her. You're in our prayers and may you rest in peace. God bless you.

Darling Dave,

This has been such a long nightmare. I sat at your gravesite today, and still feel so desperate to see the killer, that executed you...pay. I never imagined, that a border (Mexico) would allow this monster to live openly free. (They're against the death penalty, as well as life in prison.) This crime happened on U.S. soil...why do we tollerate this?? Why wouldn't they send this thug back? We would have to reduce charges to satify Mexico's laws. We believe your life was worth more than that. We are going to fight the fight in your honor. You made our family so incredibly proud. When our efforts fall on deaf ears, or we feel discouraged, your bright smile lifts our hearts and fuels our pursuit of justice. You deserved better. Armando killed one of law enforcement's bravest. We will never forget your words of wisdom, your silly pranks, and your faithful and undying love for your family. I'm so proud of you! I hope and pray our family will have some closure...in the meantime we'll keep the heat on!! There's many on our side helping us apply pressure. Keep sending them our way...we need all the help we can get!
Honey, so many people loved you. You have touched so many lives. I can never thank all those who have carried us in prayer, and helped share the word of your injustice. I know that many out there, love and respect those who protect us daily. Your profession was more awesome than I ever imagined. It takes courage to face evil that lurks around every corner. I have a new profound admiration for the badge. I wish I had a chance to tell you all our endevors, and our challenges. We have met so many wonderful people along that way, who believed in you, and believe in those who keep us safe. I will always love and miss you, Teri

Well while watching CNN tonight I watched two of the bravest people in the world on tv. Your parents. The coward that hurt you has still not been brought to justice but i hope and pray for the President to do the right thing and bring him back to stand trial. There are many good things people are saying about you. I hope my parents or I with my wife as a trooper go through what your family is going through I just don't and can't imagine the strenght they must have. I am so sorry this has happened and wished I could change the outcome. God Speed.
