Officer Meagher formerly served on the Las Vegas Police Department. Three years later, a year before his fatal accident as a Henderson Police Officer, he received a tip about a million-dollar robbery planned for the U.S. Post Office in Las Vegas, and alerted federal authorities. He knew two of the would-be robbers, because they had worked on the Las Vegas Police Department when Officer Meagher was employed there.
Officer Meagher was using the lights and siren on the fire truck when he was hit and thrown from the truck, to be pinned between the fire truck and the milk van that stuck him.

Thank you, Officer Meagher. When duty called, you answered.
