Today is 11-19-07 and this message is for the Mother and Father of Deputy Streicher. I just finished watching the AE channel and the story they did about your beloved son. I want to say that I'am sadden for your loss. Your son seemed to be kind and loved his job. I have been a police officer for 25 yrs, and it still bothers me when an officer looses his life in the Line of Duty. I want you to know that your son Adam will never be forgotten and that his memory as a true Hero will live on in the law enforcement community. Adam as well as many others, know the risk we take when we walk that Thin Blue Line. May he rest in peace and God Bless you and your family.

I am sitting here watching the A+E story of your tragic death. It is a real tragedy what happened to you doing something that cops do everyday. Reading your reflections and watching this story I can see what a wonderful person and cop you were. I know that you are watching over all of us, we will keep the watch down here, while you keep the watch up there!!

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

To Adam and his family and friends:

Yesterday was the fifth anniversary of Adam's tragic death and the day all your lives changed forever. As I read the loving reflections left by those who called Adam beloved, I am mindful of the journey we all struggle with as we try to make a life for ourselves...we know that is what our beloved would want us to do, but the heart always aches for the one who can only be with us in spirit for now.

I hope that you all find some peace in your heart as you hold your memories like the rare and beautiful pearls they are.

May Adam's spirit continue to soar and his memory continue to inspire.

Rest in Peace, Adam. Your valor and dedication and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

My thoughts are with your loved ones today on this 5th anniversary of your EOW. I know your loved ones miss you today as much as they did five years ago and will continue to do so. I also know that your parents would trade places with you in a heart beat so that you could be here continuing the job you loved so much. You are a true hero and heroes never die. Continue to keep watch over your loved ones and protect them. I will have a candle burning for you today to honor you and your family. You will never be forgotten.

Adam,

I too am sitting here watching the story of your untimely death unfold on American Justice. I think of your age and how much you still had to offer and cant help but be saddened by the fact that you left way to soon. My husband has been on the force now for 1 year this month. Our department recently lost one of our own and I can only imagine the pain your family felt then and still today. Please know that you will not be forgotten no matter how much time goes by.
Though we did not know each other, we all share a common bond of brother/sisterhood behind that badge and you and your family will always have a place with us.
Thank you for trying to make this world a safer place.

To Deputy Adam Streicher and his loved ones:

On this the fourth anniversary of your tragic death, please know that your memory is honored and revered today.

My heart goes out to your family. You’re in our thoughts and our prayers.
Reading the loving reflections about your beloved Adam gives us some understanding of what a kind and honorable young man he was.

Adam, you rescued us, saved our possessions, our lives and our families. You are one of the rare heroes among us. You were always there for us in the most traumatic moments of our lives. No matter when we called, we just expected that you would come and do whatever it took to help us, and you always met our expectations. Your selflessness and dedication are awe-inspiring.

This world, this country, your community truly are better places because of you. To have lost you is a great tragedy, an irreplaceable, immeasurable loss for society. We are grateful for and to you, and honor you for all you did for us day in and day out whether you received a word of thanks or praise.

Rest in Peace, Deputy Streicher. I am humbled by your valor, courage, dedication.

At the beginning of every shift I supervise, myself and the other officers on shift dedicate the day to the memory of a fallen officer.

Today, March 22, 2006 we dedicated the shift to the memory of Deputy Sheriff Adam Streicher who died in the line of duty on this date four years ago.

When one law enforcement officer falls, we all stumble for a while, but we will carry on.

Deputy Streicher's sacrifice will never be forgotten.

I watched the tragic story of your murder today on American Justice. I don't have the words to express my sympathy for you or your family. "Thumbs up to your family". I hope prayer will sustain your family. In Valor there is Hope.
Policeman's 23rd Psalm
The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want,
His comforting hand reduces fear to naught;
He makes me walk through streets of crime,
But He gives me courage and peace of mind.

He leads me by still waters in the path I trod,
And He says in Romans I'm a "minister of God,"
He leads me in righteousness as He restores my soul,
For His name's sake He keeps me whole.

When I walk through death's valley, right up to the door,
I will fear no evil, for He comforts me more;
For Thou art with me every step of the way,
As thy rod and thy staff protect me each day.

He prepares a table, especially for me,
As I work daily among life's enemies;
He gives me authority to uphold the law,
And He anoints my position in the midst of it all.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me,
Each day of my life through eternity;
As I long to hear Him say, "Well done...,"
When I lay down my life, my badge, and my gun.

To the Streicher Family,
I am watching a rerun of the A&E program Sgt.Rust mentioned honoring Adam. As a dispatcher with a brother who is on the job and knowing someone who also has been killed in the line of duty, his story touches me on so many levels. I believe it was the Sheriff who said he put his gun to Thompson's head and he wanted him to move so he could shoot him. He would have been justified. Some people just deserve to be killed. My condolences.

I was lucky enough to have known Adam almost all his life and to have been his friend. He grew up with the affectionate nickname "Chunk", and later was nicknamed "Norm". I am two years older than Adam and we grew up in the same small town (pop 800), and attended grade school-high school together. He was one of the nicest, most genuine people I've ever met. I never heard him say an unkind word about anyone, and he was always willing to help people in need. He always had a smile on his face and was making people laugh. Even as a little boy he wanted to be a police officer. I can remember the summer when he was about 13 I asked him if he was afraid of being a cop in light of the dangers involved. He said that he wasn't, and at the time I took comfort in the fact that it would probably be "safer" for him to be a policeman around our small town community versus in a big city. Unfortunately the danger is always there. Even though we had lost contact in our college years, I was stunned by the news of his death. I watched the episode of American Justice on A & E about his murder and I just cried. It was surreal to watch his story on national television. I keep a childhood picture of Adam from a summer party in my desk at work to remind myself of how precious life is, and how much he sacrificed. Even though I know he's now safe from all harm, I wish he was still here, enjoying his family and friends, and doing the job he absolutely loved.

I feel so blessed to have known Adam. He was a wonderful person.

I will always always remember you, Chunk. You are loved and missed. I have no doubt that you're in heaven, making God smile. Rest in peace.

I was watching A&E tonight and caught this story. I know what your family is going through and in time they will find peace. I lost a fellow Deputy in 1994 and it still brings tears of joy and sorrow. Now whenever I am in D.C. I will have another name to find and thank. I am already grateful for all the sacrifices that are made by those of us who served and are serving as well as the families. I hope to stop by your agency sometime and pay my respects.

We remember the officers who changed our lives,
The men and woman who protected us day and night,
People who respect for their dedication to the cause,
For when faced with danger, they never even pause.
We remember the officers who always stood true,
Whatever the color of uniform, brown gray or blue,
With pride and integrity they say "To serve and protect",
For the giving of their life, we offer our respect.
We remember the officers who we never really knew,
Persons strong enough to answer the challenge are few,
With heavy hearts we mourn the officers in eternal rest,
There's more to these people than the badge on their chest.
