Reflections for Patrolman Hector Manuel "Chino" Gomez

YOUR LOSS HAS BROUGHT NORTHERN LOUISIANA TO ITS KNEES..
AN OFFICER DOWN AND A BROTHER GONE...
IT IS WITH A SADDENED HEART THAT I CONTINUE THE FIGHT..

YOUR FAMILY IS IN MY PRAYERS...
THANK YOU

PFC J.C. HAWKINS
MONROE POLICE DEPARTMENT

To the family, friends, and co-workers my prayers are with you all at this time of sorrow.
To Mrs. Gomez and your child I want you to know that Hector is a hero. I never met him and I never knew him yet he was still my brother. He was a brother to us all and we grieve with you. Take comfort in knowing that the Bible tells us that there is no greater love than to sacrifice your life for another. Hector did just that.
You are a member of a large family and we care. We will not forget him.

Sgt. Bruce E. Orr
Charleston County Sheriff's Office Charleston, SC

To the Gomez Family:
It may not matter now that your husband and father died a true hero, only that he died. But you, little one, will have the opportunity to get to know your father through his acts of kindness and service that will never fade or be forgotten. This truly selfess sacrafice is one that you had to make unwillingly, I am very sorry for your loss.
Live well and remember love never dies.

A death is always tragic, no matter what the circumstances. Even more tragic is the death of policeman in the line of duty. In a town as small as ours, where everyone knows everyone else, a loss like this is devastating. The people of Marion knew Officer Gomez as "Chino". Our entire community has felt the pain of this terrible event. Our town has lost a brother, a good friend, and a great protector. To Jodie, his wife, you have our deepest sorrow and all of our love. Chino was a hero and will forever be remembered in our hearts.

To the family of Patrolman Gomez,
Take your pain & sorrow to the Lord and keep your wonderful memories close to your heart. Always show pictures & tell stories about him to his unborn child. Don't ever let his memory die. Just take one day at a time......it's tough; I've been there too.
To the co-workers of Patrolman Gomez,
Always remember him & help his family keep his memory alive. Be there to assist them in anyway you can. Offer to share your memories of him with his family....especially his unborn child.

You will all be in my thoughts & prayers......God Bless You.

A survivor & co-worker.

To the family and friends and co-workers of Hector Gomez, take comfort in the knowledge that hero is not big enough a total. To his unborn child, he or she will surely know that their father was one of America's finest. I would gladly and proudly salute at his funeral, were I a little closer. God bless him and may he be warmly met by his brothers and sisters in paradise.

The Military Police Corps has a statement that serves as part of our being: Of the Troops, for the Troops. While I do not know Patrolman Gomez, I'm certain that he was of the people, for the people in his during his tour of duty. As with all other officers down, Patrolman Gomez and his loved ones will be in my prayers. Thank You

I too work for a small department. This tragedy just shows that no matter what size department you work for danger is always around. I'm sure Ptl. Gomez loved his job and we all feel for his loss but remember that he is in good company now and that he patrols the streets in a better place.

With deepest sympathy,

May God enfold the Gomez Family in His perfect peace and love and may He grant them understanding and comfort in their time of sorrow. Remember that a hero is not defined by the way that a person dies, but how he has lived.

My heart goes out to Officer Gomez' widow. It is such a tragedy that his life ended in the manner in which it did. I pray for his family and his unborn baby. Thank you Mrs. Gomez for lending us your husband to serve and protect.

May God bless your soul, Officer Gomez. It is another heartbreaking situation for those of us in Blue. Just another cowardly act by someone without a purpose in this life...Keep his memories close, and never let his unborn child forget. To his wife, stay close to the Lord, He and He alone knows your suffering, I will keep you and your child in the prayers of those I know...Keep the Faith...
