I am the son of Timothy who is the son of Timothy, William's brother.
My grandfather died suddenly in 1926 leaving a large family behind him.
Earlier this year, my grandfathers name came up in conversation and it was then that I realized I had never seen a photo of him. No one that I asked had seen one either.
I contacted my cousin Noreen, grandaughter of William's brother Jeremiah, She was born and reared in Knockacummer, William's home place and she did have a photo which she sent to me together with a photo of Jeremiah and William.
Then she told me the story of William which I was amazed to hear and very surprised that I had never heard it.
To William, I say, I will be in New York for September, 30th ceremony and I intend to find and visit your place of rest in Calvary and when there will proudly reflect the man you obviously were.
Your grand nephew,
Timmy McAuliffe
