Reflections for Trooper Brian Keith Nichols
Thanks Denise for leaving a reflection on Clint's site, you know I check his site daily and it's always nice to see another reflection. I didn't know that Brian's birthday is January 14th, you may have told me but with my mind it probably went in one ear and out the other. I bet Brian was waiting on Clint and they both celebrated together. You know I always hate using the word anniversary of Clint leaving us also, so I say that it's Clint's birthday in Heaven. Clint has celebrated his 4th birthday in Heaven. You are right I know our boys are watching over us, I love getting all the signs, some people think I'm crazy sometimes, it just helps me through.
I hope you and the kids are doing okay, I know they are grown by now. Hope we get to see yall at the candlelight this year. Love yall Lots!!!
Trooper Brian Nichols we will never forget you, keep a watch over your family and let them know you are close. Tell Clint to keep the signs coming they help and that I love and miss him.

Well, we just had the 6 year mark of your death. I don't call it an anniversary because that is something you celebrate and we don't celebrate this date. So much time has passed and so many things have changed but one thing stays the same.....We love and miss you! I go back and read reflections and see how many lives you touched and how many your legacy is still touching. You truly were and are a wonderful man. Keep watching over us and sending your guardian angel to us!!
Love,
Denise, Keith and Leanna

Trooper Nichols Rest in Peace my brother and thank you for your service .
To Denise
I want to thank you for the words you provided to Joshua Norris EOW 7/5/07 who was to be my son in-law, they touched my daughter and has helped my family during a dark time. My daughter had a general idea of how large our police family was, but your reflection showed just how large the family of blue is. God Bless you

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

Well, the Alabama State Troopers never cease to amaze me. The new Director..Col. Murphy sent Keith a Director's coin and a Trooper pin for his birthday with a very sweet letter. He was 12 last month and the words he wrote to him...about you...were precious. "Those of us at the Department of Public Safety share something special in common with you: Your father, Trooper Brian Nichols. And that means we are part of the same family, a family that connects Alabama Sgtate Troopers to each other in devotion and support." The words of course brought me to tears and Keith too. I am so glad they still remember you and us too!
Love,
Denise

Trp. Nichols...I see even after quite some time people are still posting on your page. Like myself, most of us have never met you but we feel a bond towards you as Troopers and other LEO's. I hope your family is doing well and I hope that they know you are still loved and thought about by so many people. The holidays are right around the corner so I know that is a hard time for your family, friends, and co-workers. Continue to watch over them.

My thoughts and prayers to the family of Alabama Trooper Brian Nichols. As a Texas State Trooper who happens to have the same name I felt compelled to post a reflection. Although I never had the honor of meeting Brian, I know from reading the other posts that he exemplified what is best about all of us in law enforcement and is loved and dearly missed by family and friends. I hope that my work can honor Alabama Trooper Brian Keith Nichols. God Speed, Brother

Wednesday May 09, 2007 I'm sitting here talking with Luke Singleton and Johnny Curry as we reflect back on that Feb.night I will never forget I was pumping gas when I got the call. I arrived on scene and saw Corporal Tim Mills standing out by the road in tears. I asked him who is it Tim. He advised me He thought it might be Larry Harkless or Brian Nichols. I climbed upon the vehicle and tried to pull the Officer up but was unable to. I grabbed the name tag off of his shirt and saw that it was Trooper BK Nichols. I started crying and the only thing I could think of was his two Kids that are the same age as mine. And how hard life would be for them with out there Hero and Dad. I went home that night and held mine and cried. We all agree that every time we pass that sight. We remember how much we miss our friend and comrade. God bless the Nichols family and we wish them the best in life. Love all the Officers and Deputies in Washington Co.

Trooper Nichols: Its been a rough 2007 for us here in North Carolina. We just lost another officer in Rocky Mount this week due to a car crash. When most people think of death in this job, everyone always thinks of getting shot, but that car can kill you just as fast. I have had some few scary moments in mine. But I take comfort in knowing that I am doing my very best to uphold the tradition of my trade, and if it means giving my life, then I am ok with that. I know the Lord has a plan for everyone...just like He had a plan for you and has already called you home. Please continue to watch over all of us, it seems to get worse every day. God Bless your family, and I hope they are all doing well.

Hello Trooper Nichols:
I read the postings your loved ones leave to other fallen heroes and it is indicative of how loved you were. I am very saddened by your passing. You are a credit to the badge and I know that your family takes pride in knowing that you are on St. Michael's honor guard in Heaven. You are not forgotten. God bless.

Brian,
I can't believe it has been 5 years. At times it seems like yesterday and at times it seems like forever!! I had a bad day Saturday so I could not bring myself to come to your page and write but I am better today. Even though I keep thinking about this is the day that I went to the funeral home to make arrangements. That was so hard!!
We miss you and think about you everyday. The kids are getting so big now. Keith is 11 and Leanna is 9. They are so much like you. Especially Leanna, if she looks anymore like you she will be your twin!! Keith acts just like you. So calm and mild mannered. He wanted to take your bible to church the other Sunday. He remembers you reading out of it to them every night.
Well, just know that you are never forgotten and we love you and miss you everyday!!
Love always,
Denise

You are missed even by those who didn't know you. I
read this poem today and wanted to post it here. It was
written by Bonnie Sanchez for her Mom.
I thought of you with love today, but that is nothing new
I thought of you yesterday and days before that, too.
I think of you in silence, I speak your name with pride
And I relive our memories of living side by side.
Your memory is my keepsake with which I'll never part
God has you in His keeping, I have you in my heart.

Trp. Nichols...just pulled the infamous 7P-4A shift...man I hate that shift. Luckily it was quiet, no major wrecks or calls. I know today is a hard day for your family and friends, even though it has been five years. But I hope they find comfort in knowing that you are in heaven and that people still remember you as a person. I said a small prayer for your family and friends at 12A when it was officially the 17th...then I went out and clocked one at 91 on the Interstate! That one was for you! I'll try to get one in the "triples" next time. Rest well and continue to watch out for us. God Bless.
