I am not the same, the police community is not the same. Your death will not go in vain. Because of your death, many others will go about their duties more cautiously. Your death will save other lives. R.I.P.

To Tpr Gleason: You realized our greatest fear. We know it can happen any day, but we still go. Day to day can become routine, but we can never under estimate the cowardice and evil in this world. Your duty will NOT be forgotten! Watch over us Brother.
To Family and Friends: Words cannot relay the sorrow in our hearts for you. The "Long Grey Line" will always be there for you. God Bless You All.

The Policeman stood and faced his god,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shinning.
Just as bright as his brass.
" Step forward now, policeman.
How shall i deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord i guess i ain't
Because those of us who carry badges
can't always be a saint.
I've had to work on most Sundays
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
because the streets are awfully tough.
But never took a penny,
that wasn't mine to keep........
Though I worked a lot of overtime
when the bills got just too steep.
And i never passed a cry for help,
Though at times i shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord,
it needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't..........I 'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his God.
"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."

Another officer who has died from what used to be called a "routine call". From what the news story stated, there was no way that he could have prevented this or protected himself or the female complainant. May they both rest in peace. God bless them both.

Will it ever stop? Another fine officer is brutally killed; one who is trying to protect and serve the citizens of not only New York, but America. Trooper Gleason our hearts and prayers go out to you and your family and know that your country is behind you and what you stood for. Watch over your fellow troopers, brothers in blue, and our service members who are all fighting the same fight, against all that is evil, for justice and liberty for all.

Trooper Gleason,
You have joined many heroes who have given the ultimate sacrifice. We can never make sense of any tragedy like this except that God has a better place for you. I just found this website a week ago & you you are the second officer that has lost his life since then. My prayers are with your family, friends & co-workers. It is only through prayer that they will make it through & it will still be difficult for them. I lost a man that I spent 10 years of my life with & also dispatched for...Calvin E. Taylor NC Highway Patrol - E.O.W. 10-3-01. While the rest of the world goes on, we want to cry out to God to bring our loved ones back......but honestly, the wouldn't want to leave their new home with God to join the evils on this earth such as the ones who took their lives.
God Bless You,
Denise L. Taylor

I never knew Larry, But he worked with my cousin Cliff, who is also stationed at Schroon Lake. Cliff said Larry was a real good guy. I'm very sorry for your loss. When a brother officer falls, all of us are deeply saddened. I hope it condoles you somewhat to know that Larry's sacrifice was for a noble cause of the highest honor. Such an event also causes all Troopers whose lives have been touched by this tragic loss to be reminded of the fate that may await us on the next patrol and to steel ourselves in our sworn battle versus evil. God Bless all those who loved Larry. I know that Larry has already been blessed by God and welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven.
