Reflections for Trooper Lawrence P. Gleason
One year ago today, I heard the terrible news that morning from a fellow Police Officer from Hornell P.D. I was in shock and couldn't believe what had happened. I am still saddened everytime I think of what happened to you or when I see your memorial on this website. It was and still is not fair, you had so much in front of you. We all cried at your wake and at your funeral, it hurt a lot. What a sad time it was.
I know that your family, especially Kate, misses you dearly as do the people of Hornell, NY and your fellow Troopers and Police Officers.
But I know you are in a better place now, so rest easy. Watch over us that are still here "on the beat" as we carry on in your name.
You will not be forgotten. God bless you brother.

As the first anniversary of your death nears, we are remembering you and your supreme sacrifice. From one coast to another we grieve with those who are grieving still. You died too soon for most of your dreams to be fulfilled and we are thinking of all those who have that void in their
lives that only you could fill. God bless you all!

AT EASE!
I am at ease, It's end of day.
My duty has been done.
The hour calls me far away,
beyond the setting sun.
Meet me by the river's rocks,
in the shawdow of the lane.
Find me in the snowflakes,
as they crowd against the pane.
Or beckon me in silence,
then listen to the breeze.
And you will hear me always,
for at last, I stand, AT EASE!

I would like to express my condolences to the friends and family of Larry P. Gleason. As the wife of a New York State trooper I daily face the fear of what could happen, but through tragedies such as the death of Larry it enables me to appreciate the time I do have with my husband. Although my husband only worked with Larry a few times he appreciated him as a quiet but a very "funny" guy. I would like to let Larry's family know we are praying that God give you peace in your hearts.Just look to the Lord because he can heal a wounded heart!
I Thessalonians 5:17 GODSPEED TO YOU LARRY!!!!YOU ARE MISSED!

Trooper Gleason, you died doing what you loved, serving the citizens of New York. Only the BEST become New York State Troopers. I will be attempting to fill the large shoes you left behind very soon. We will someday work a tour in Heaven together. Until then, know that you are missed and please keep an eye on us down here.

I believe we may have met once at the Champlain, NY POE. I have always admired and revered NYSP, the term New York's finest definitely applies to all those on the grey line. Peace to you, your sacrifice will inspire many others. God Bless..
Policeman's 23rd Psalm:
The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want, His comforting hand reduces fear to naught; He makes me walk through streets of crime, But He gives me courage and peace of mind.
He leads me by still waters in the path I trod, And He says in Romans I'm a "minister of God," He leads me in righteousness as He restores my soul, For His name's sake He keeps me whole.
When I walk through death's valley, right up to the door, I will fear no evil, for He comforts me more; For Thou art with me every step of the way, As thy rod and thy staff protect me each day.
He prepares a table, especially for me, As I work daily among life's enemies; He gives me authority to uphold the law, And He anoints my position in the midst of it all.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me, Each day of my life through eternity; As I long to hear Him say, "Well done...," When I lay down my life, my badge, and my gun.

Trooper Gleason is in a much safer and better place. His dedication to become a State Trooper to protect the lives of the citizens will never be forgotten. I only know as he enters Heaven he will be greeted by many other troopers who have given their lives so others can live.
God Bless his parents, fiancee and comrades.
