Reflections for Trooper Lawrence P. Gleason
Today marks another historic day in remembrance of Trooper Lawrence P. Gleason. The following information is an excerpt taken from NBC - Channel 5 - updated at 10:26 AM on June 26, 2024:
N.Y. —
On June 27, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., New York State police will hold a dedication ceremony at the Shroon Lake Pavilion, designating the overpass on Charley Hill Road over Interstate 87 in the town of Shroon as the "Trooper Lawrence P. Gleason Memorial Bridge.
Gov. Hochul recently signed legislation sponsored by Sen. Dan Stec and Sen. Matt Simpson, to rename the bridge on the portion of Charley Hill Road, which crosses I-87 in the town of Schroon.
The bridge will now officially be named the "Trooper Lawrence P. Gleason Memorial Bridge."
NYS Law makers, thank you for acknowledging the professionalism, dedication and ultimate sacrifice of Trooper Lawrence P. Gleason as he will always be remembered.

We embrace another opportunity to reflect on the positive impact Trooper Lawrence Gleason had on many individuals he encountered in his life. I did not know him personally, but learned alot from his sister about Larry's life and his contributions to our society and to his community.
Trooper Lawrence Gleason will Always Be Remembered.

February 11th is not just another date anymore!! 21 years since your tragic murder doing the job you loved you are still deeply in my thoughts. Sometimes it feels like it was yesterday others it feels like eternity regardless you will never be forgotten LG! It saddens me that when the kids talk about you they never knew you, but from all of the story’s from friends, family and fellow troopers I believe they know the genuine person you were. Thank you for being the best brother I never had!! Also Thanks for the light bulb!
Ps- 12 days we are going to be in the 50 Club!!

20 years!!! They say time heels, which I believe it does but on occasion thinking of you is like getting sucker punched right in the heart!! You’re going a little crazy with light bulbs this year but that’s ok!! Heading up to Schroon lake with family for memorial dinner for you to hang out with your grey rider brothers in blue . Always a pleasure seeing them. Best friends always and never forgotten!! Love you LG!!

I remember hearing of the ultimate sacrifice of Trooper Lawrence P. Gleason in February of 2002. I haven't thought of your service until very recently. I am presently retired from the Nassau County Police Department and living part time in Florida. I recently had the pleasure of golfing with your parents and they told me of your tragic death. My heart goes out to your sisters and Mom and Dad. Rest in Peace Brother. You are missed !

Today we honor the life of Trooper Lawrence P. Gleason on the 19th anniversary date of his death. I choose to honor Lawrence by remembering his contributions to life, and acknowledging both his devotion and commitment to Law Enforcement with the ultimate sacrifice a Law Enforcement Official can give (which sadly is one's own life).
Trooper Gleason will never ever be forgotten; RIP sir.

Tpr. Gleason,
I last wrote in April, 2007 as a 17 year old young man in the NYSP Explorer Post aspiring to serve the People of New York in your courageous footsteps one day.
14 years later, I patrol with you as a proud Member of the New York State Police. I think of you often and your brave service to the place I love. You are never forgotten, brother. Please watch over us.

My deepest condolences to his family. All he was doing was his job, helping someone. My prayers are with him tonight, way too young. All in the line of duty, thank you to all who risk everything for us.
