Reflections for Fire Marshal Ronald P. Bucca
I am working through life-changing events. I thought I would log on to update a previous Reflection. I guess my account is so old, the "stay logged in" doesn't apply to me. Please forgive if there is some duplication.
Ron Bucca and his family personify true public servants. I get almost physically ill when most politicians claim to be public servants. Holding back anger, I think: "They wouldn't dare say that in a group of people who knew Ron."
Most of us would feel ecstatic to have just one of Ron's strengths. Because he had thoroughly studied the previous WTC attack, he of all people knew how bad the odds were of coming out alive.
He could have sought less demanding assignments many times, but "the Flying Fireman" was never deterred from giving his all, even when it was not his turn. Over the years, his presence and finely honed skills comforted and literally saved many people.
Ron was a mentor to me and so many others, formally or not.
Almost daily there are accounts of events where I think, "if only Ron were there" the outcome would have been better.
If I can leave the earthly world with just 1/10th of Ron's accomplishments, I would be a happy man.
Ron is always in the thoughts of so many who I have used Ron's story for an example of a true public servant.

Marshal Bucca,
I came upon your memorial page today, on the 22nd anniversary of the 9/11 attacks in New York and D.C.
like all the other first responders on that historic day, you showed incredible courage and dedication to duty. You were among the first to reach the 78th floor of the south tower, prior to its collapse. I will pray for your wife, your son and your daughter, along with other family, friends, loved ones and colleagues.
Greater love has no one than this, that a person will lay down his life for his friends. - John 15:13

Major Bucca and family: I served at Camp Bucca in Iraq and it was an honor to see his name every day. I also served in the 800th MP BDE in the Gulf War and I have a friend who was NYPD and at ground zero N. Tower on 9/11, so this all means a lot to me in many ways. My condolences for your loss. RIP Marshal Bucca, you were and still are a hero many times over. To ALL 9/11 responders: HEROES WHO WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.

I will never forget you and will always remember you as a hero. You were an angel on this Earth now you sit beside God! May God continue to be with the Bucca Family!
My husband Dwayne "Kevin" Wilkins was Ronald Bucca Jr's Drill Sgt at Fort Jackson in Columbia, SC. My husband has been trying for years to get in contact with Ronald Jr. for years and we always seem to get lost. He would love to talk to one of his soldiers that he loved so dearly! Please feel free to call or e-mail us just to let us know how he is doing.

I visited the 9/11 memorial around Labor Day and took several pictures of the memorial. In one of my pictures, the name of Ron Bucca appeared from the wall. I wanted to find out who Mr. Bucca was, and so I went on a search to find the answer. What a brave and wonderful man he was, so selfless in his attempt to help others. I will take a life lesson from his bravery, and will whisper his name in times of trouble when I need strength. Thank you Ron, you will always be in my heart and prayers.
