P.O./Evidence Technician Doug Eatherton
St. Louis Metropolitan Police

I would like to extend thoughts and prayers to Officer Mcnamara's family. January 30,2002 will always be remembered as a sad day in Upper Darby Twp., Officer Mcnamara was out there trying to protect our community and all I want to say is "Thanks for all you did" God Bless!!

TOM MANLEY
G.D.H. FIRE CO

Dennis you were a good cop, and a better person. The scum that has taken a brother from our beat will pay. All thought I never had the honor to work with you, I did learn many things from you. See you when I get there.

A PART OF AMERICA DIED

-author unknown-

Somebody killed a policeman today

And a part of America died...

A piece of our country he swore to protect

Will be buried with him at his side.

The beat that he walked was a battlefield, too,

Just as if he had gone off to war;

Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half-mast

To his name they will add a gold star.

The suspect that shot him will stand up in court

With counsel demanding his rights,

While a young, widowed mother must work for her kids

And spend many long, lonely nights.

Yes, somebody killed a policeman today...

Maybe in your town or mine,

While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors

A cop put his life on the line.

Now his ghost walks the beat on a dark city street,

And he stands at each new rookie's side:

He answered the call . . . of himself he gave his all,

And a part of America died...

Officer Kenneth Collins
Parkside Police

Even though I've been off the force for 14 yrs. it still saddens me when a police officer is killed. There is no way to express the sorrow the family and fellow officer's feel. It is especially disturbing that an outlaw motorcyclist did this, after all the inroads an organization named Bikers Allied to Commemorate Police has done in the Philadelphia area. Rest assured the prayers of all the members of BACUP are with you and your families. To the Upper Darby P/D be safe in the execution of your duties.

Plmn. Thomas Howard
Phila. Police (Ret)

To the family of Officer McNamara, our prayers are with you. To my brother and sister officers, be strong, stay safe and God Bless..

Patrolman Joseph Alonso
Newtown Township Police Dept.

Another unprovoked and senseless loss of a fellow officer by a career criminal.

The thoughts and prayers of many go out to the McNamara family and the Upper Darby PD.

I have fond memories of The Tower Theatre and 69th & Market Street. Those were better times for the community.

Officer Scott Bachman
Baltimore County Police - MD

Having known Dennis both personally and professionaly i can truly say he was a cop's cop's
Dennis was a fine example of what a police office is he always conducted himself in the utmost professional manner, words cannot express how Great a loss this is
but every Upper Darby officer should know that what ever call there on from this day forword Dennis will be backing them up.

I just wanted to say how sorry I am to Officer McNamara's family and his fellow police officers. He died doing his job and duty of protecting innocent people and in my book he is a hero.

Another sensless killing of a hero in blue, to the family, friends, and fellow officers, when you lose someone like this, there are no words that can possibly make the pain go away, however, the fact that he died a hero, doing what he loved, take solace, he is patrolling streets of gold now, we all lose from one cowardly act...Rest in Peace, Officer Mc Namara, your watch here is over.

Although I did not know Officer Dennis McNamara personally but I do work at a nearby Department. I have recently experienced the loss of one of our own in The City Of Chester, Cpl. Michael Beverly. These senseless killings are unexceptable and hurt deeply. Officer McNamara, you are and always will be BLUE! You have dedicated your life as we all do, in keeping the peace and in trying to keep our world a better and safer place. You will be missed. To the family of Officer McNamara, It hurts so much as a fellow officer to see one of our own go down, but nothing can be more hurtfull than your Son, Father, Brother, Husband put his life on the line everyday and for some coward to come along and take that away. I will pray for Dennis and his entire family. I am so sorry for your loss.
