For Patrolman Baumfield~
Today I was writing an essay about my father's life as a New York City police officer; in particular, about the night you were killed. My father, Patrolman James S. Minto was with you as your partner. I was only 13 years old in 1963 and did not know you...but my father always talked with respect about his partnership with you. The loss of your life deeply affected my father. I looked high and low for your name and the date you were lost to us and was blessed to find this site. You are not forgotten, and live on in the hearts of the Minto family. My father lived that night, but is now in heaven with you.
Shalom, Jane Minto Bailey

Time may have passed but you are not forgotten. I believe as long as someone remembers you or speaks your name, you are still with us.
Thank you for your heroism.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 49th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace

this is the 45th anniversary of joining St. Michaels Department in heaven. It is said often that the fallen patrol
the peaceful streets of heaven but I do not believe St. Michael has recruited brave officers to patrol heaven. If they patrolled heaven why would they need wings? I believe the fallen are patrolling our violent streets on earth to protect citizens and police. Almost every officer who has been on the streets for a while has a story about an
incident where they are sure that some guardian ran interference to keep them safe. That is what the fallen have been commissioned for. Perhaps that is why the best seem to be taken. And so Patrolman Baumeld I thank you as the mother of a police officer for all you do in the protection of our sons and daughters as they patrol dangerous streets.
