PTL DUANE CARPENTER

Mark,
It's March 5th and you would have been 43 years old today, I sure wish you were here so I could wish you a "happy birthday". I miss you so much, your voice, your laugh, your crazy stories. No one could tell a story like you! I miss you being in my life!
Happy Birthday, my brother
I love you, Maria

I saw Sgt. Parry the night he was in the accident, as I was going home at the end of my shift, just as he was starting his. I will remember that always, as he was as cheerful and pleasant that night as he always was to me, even though I did not get to know him as well as some of my brothers and sisters at PC6. My prayers go out to Mark's family. He served with honor and I will never forget him.

" I think now looking back, that we are not fighting an enemy. Sometimes we are fighting ourselves and the enemy is within us. Make yourself no mistake; give all to your brothers in blue. Never let their badge go tarnished only because, Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. When we meet again brothers, then we will smile, if not then we know that this party was well formed"!

This is what I said when my partners was slain. I hurt every time a brother in blue leaves us for any reason. Please pray for their families and make sure the babies, and wives of our brothers survive.

With the deepest sorrow and the never forgotten honor,

Detective Matthew Heckman
New Bern Police Department
New Bern, North Carolina

God bless Mark and his family. A college friend and a wonderful husband of my dear friend Lynne. Many memories of days gone by are comforting but his presence will be sorely missed in our world. He will be proud of his children as they grow because they have had a strong and loving beginning. Please know many lives have been changed by this loss and we pray good things will eventually unfold.
God bless Lynne and give her stength. J and R Stagno

I was honored to know Sgt. Parry and his family for a few years. This tragedy can never be forgiven. Sgt. Parry and his Wife, Lyn, were 2 of the best people you could ever know. She must now pass the good points of their personalities on to their children by herself. With Gods' grace she will be able to do this relying on all the strength she has. Please be there to help Lynne any time that you can.
Sincerly, Conrad "Gil" Gilbert

I just wanted to wish the family and friends of Sgt Parry all the best and to express my sincerest condolances on your loss. I, myself just lost a number of fellow officers in the September 11th attacks here in NYCity and 5 1/2 years ago I was hit head on by a drunk driver in a pickup truck, so I can understand your situation from different sides. He made the supreme sacrifice to make the streets safer for everyone else in your community. I have relatives that live in that general area of Maryland as well.Hopefully the drunk driver gets what they deserve by taking away a valuable member of our society. Take care and be well.

I had the honor of starting my career working with Mark. He was the kind of guy who made even the "new guy" feel like a part of the team. My Next encounter with Mark was when he was " the new supervisor" on my shift. Mark was a cops cop and always made everyone he interacted with feel like they were a part of the team.

I have no doubt that if there are cops in heaven Mark is already walking the beat.

God bless you and your family my friend. Watch over all of us until our watch ends.

Sgt. Barry's family won't know me as I retired 8 years ago. I still want to send my support and my prayers for the family, especially the children who are now fathererless. Everyone needs to be together and work things out. There will be hard days and then it will get easier. It never will be 100% because Sgt. Barry isn't coming back. Just know the whole department, active and retired officers are there for you. God bless to you all.

May Sgt. Parry rest forever in peace. A man so dedicated and well respected by his troops and loved and adored by his family, we have to ask WHY? There are no answers to these tragedies that we face. Sgt. Parry will live forever as a hero and as a father. May his family find the solace and peace of mind to continue in these tragic days.

Deputy Sheriff Matthew Crisafulli
Worcester County Sheriffs Office

Sgt. Parry was a hero, not for how he died, but rather for how he lived. It hurts anytime we lose a fellow officer, but it is magnified when the loss is from the local family.
God bless his family, friends, and the department.

Although I never met Sgt. Parry I always heard others speaking highly of him. It always hurts when we lose one of our own, its a tragedy for everyone which is never forgotten. I only hope that Sgt. Parry takes with him the respect and courage that he worked so hard to earn. God bless his wife, children and entire family.

I know this was most difficult on Marks family. My dad was in the hospital for 3 months before he passed, and it takes a toll on the family and loved ones. Our heartfelt sympathy and blessing to Marks family, his loved ones, and his Department. May God Bless. He gave his life for us, and we will never forget him!

We cannot control the destinies of our futures, but we can help mend the heart of pain.

Mark was a super patrolman and when he finally decided to make rank won the repect of those who worked for him. Off duty he was a good time and loved his family. He was unselfish and would do anything for you or someone he did not know.

He is missed already.

Always a NIGHTHAWK!

I used to get upset with my husband for reading this page every day...until our department lost two men on the same day. Now I understand. What a fitting tribute, to all the fallen officers that have walked the "thin blue line". They have not died in vain. Every officer that has the courage to continue their service is a true hero. They always were, but most people don't take the time to notice. My heart grieves for the family, and my prayers will continue. May St. Michael watch over all of you and may God bless and keep safe the family of Sgt. Parry.

From all accounts, Sgt. Parry was what a cop should be...one who always looked out for his troops and even the night he was struck, he was doing for someone else He worked for another supervisor during the holidays. He will be missed by all who knew him.
