Your heroism and service is honored today, the 142nd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.

On the 140th anniversary of Patrolman Smedick's death, we honored his service in our patrol briefing by reading his entry from ODMP. Each day, we honor one fallen officer on the anniversary of their death so as to keep them in our thoughts, and also to remind us of the dangers inherent in our job. Patrolman Smedick is not forgotten.

Patrolman Smedick at roll call tonight on the 137 anniversary of your end of watch. I read your story found here to new young officers. So that we might all remeber your sacrifice and the sacrifice of all our brothers and sisters in uniform. May God bless!

No fallen officer deserves to be without a reflection. I am honored to be the first to leave one for you, Patrolman Smedick. I am glad to know your murderer got what he deserved.

Thanks to this site, you may be gone, but you will never be forgotten. You gave the ultimate sacrifice. Thank you for all you did to make your community a safer place.
